From Maine Pyar Kiya to Shaadi Karke Phas Gaye Yaar, Salman has indeed come a long way. Here the actor talks about his forthcoming films, his attempt at scriptwriting and the recent bomb blasts.

Shaadi Karke Phas Gaye Yaar has been delayed for quite sometime. It was announced in 2001, but the shooting took place between 2004-05. The producer did not have money when the film was launched nor did they have money for the promotions of the film. My life was full of problems. Distributors were not ready to invest in the film since I was going through a rough patch.
Now that they have seen the film, they came forward to buy it and are ready to promote it. Though the film has been delayed, the plot will never fail. Ekta Kapoor is going to make money with this project.
What is Shaadi Karke Phas Gaye Yaar about?
It is about cultural differences. I am married to Shilpa who is a model and totally Western in her approach towards life, while I am totally Indian. Her behaviour is influenced by her mother.
The film is all about human relationships. He is a simple boy who doesn't like a few things. She wears skirts above her knees and revealing blouses. They have fights, but ultimately she does realise that she is wrong.
You have been doing a lot of comedy films? has comedy become your forte?
Shaadi Karke... is not a comedy. The situations are comic. My films have emotion, action and comedy. They can be watched by children with their great-grandfathers. It is a family film.
What do you think about the recent bomb blasts?
I condemn this act. Maybe that is why I have never performed a negative role till today. No religion teaches you to kill another human being.
I come from a family in which we believe in all cultures. I've read the Geeta, Quran and Bible. Nowhere has it been mentioned that we should kill people in the name of religion.
I feel sad for people who don't have a mind of their own and are conned into doing this. They are either doing it to impress others or out of fear. But this is not going to solve anything. I think every parent should teach their children that only education can help change your mind.
I feel the common man should now take care of his own security and try and be alert about what is happening around him.
What do you think about the spirit of Mumbai?
It takes a lot of guts to do something like that. Going back to work is not easy after you hear such incidents, but what can a poor man do? He has to look after his family and has to work for it. They don't have a choice, do they? They have to face life ahead.
Is it true that you have now started writing scripts?
Yes, I am writing now, but that will take sometime. I had written the story of Chandramukhi. I think 10 years ahead of my time.
