Aamir's Satyamev Jayte impact: Raj govt to check female foeticide

Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday urged the elected public representatives and NGOs to play an active role to curb the illegal practice of female foeticide.

In a meeting here, Gehlot reviewed the efforts being made under the government's schemes to check female foeticide, an official said.

Gehlot while emphasising upon special campaigns across the state, directed officials to prepare an action plan for this purpose with support of public representatives of Panchayat levels and local bodies and NGOs.

Aamir Khan in his debut TV show 'Satyamev Jayate', aired on Sunday 6th May, had highlighted the story of a sting operation done by two journalists to expose increasing female foeticide cases.

Aamir in his show had said that he would appeal to the Rajasthan Chief Minister to get the cases against the doctors tried in a fast track court. He also appealed to viewers to support his campaign in national interest.

Children worst victims of broken marriages: HC

PTI | 08:05 PM,May 08,2012

Mumbai, May 8 (PTI) In divorce matters, children suffer the most and face a lot of trauma, observed the Bombay High Court, while hearing an application filed by a divorced man seeking permission to take his 13-year-old son, who is in his mother's custody, on a vacation. "Children suffer the most between a divorced husband and wife. They get scared and traumatised in the fight between the parents. Every father and mother wants to spend some quality time with their children but they have to see the needs of the child too," a division bench of Justices P B Majmudar and Anoop Mohta observed, while hearing an application filed by the divorced man seeking to take his son to hill stations in the state during summer vacations. The court, however, also expressed displeasure when it was pointed out by the lawyer of the petitioner's wife that he had a daughter from his now annulled marriage but has not expressed any wish to take her out for vacation. "Why do you want to take only the son out? We saw a serial about how families want only male child and how female foeticide is on a rise," Justice Majmudar said referring to the television show "Satyameva Jayate" launched recently and is anchored by actor Aamir Khan. After the wife's advocate told the court that the son himself did not wish to go with his father, the bench interviewed all the parties - the son, wife and father - individually in the chamber. After interviewing them, the court permitted the father to take the son for vacation from May 14 to May 21. He has directed the man to hand over the son to his wife on May 21. The couple's marriage was dissolved by the family court on January 10, 2011. The family court granted permanent custody of the children to the mother and granted access to the father who has challenged the order in the high court. PTI SP NSK

Arrey only two days have passed and impact already started! It will create history as weeks pass by. Cynics can keep blogging or tweeting jokes. Real people and issues will benefit from it and Aamir Khan will get respect for whatever he chose to do.

No agenda by some media groups or likes of KRK/Rakhi Sawant or fans of other stars can stop Satyamev Jayate from striking a chord in people's hearts.

It's funny how hypocrites are deliberately ignoring news about its impact and still blindly making jokes. Mentally sick I guess!😆
