Saiyaara Male lead is overrated!!!
22 years of Hungama
In my opinion, Khushi's character has been ridiculed as of late. She started out as a strong, responsible young woman with a sweet innocence, straightforwardness, and deeply rooted values/principles. These were traits that made her stand out, because there was an evident distinction between her innocence and intelligence.
The innocence never bordered on downright childishness to the point of irritation and sheer immaturity. The intelligence was one of her strongest traits as she, in spite of getting herself into constant trouble with Arnav, never lost her head. She was intelligent. But recently, her character has moved from innocence to immaturity and even stupidity. It's unbelievable to watch her now and know that it's Khushi in a much destructed version. Now, I know that a lot of people might burn me for saying this, but Khushi has been transformed into an airhead with annoying habits such as being illogically childish and stupid [um, need I mention the "Arnav wants to kill me, so now I'm going to kill myself first" track, along with a few others down the line].The thing is that in tonight's episode when the truth came out and I wanted to sympathize with Khushi -- I realized that I couldn't. In fact, I could sympathize with the man who ruined her life by blackmailing her into a contract marriage, but I couldn't sympathize with the supposed victim. Why? Because the writers have ridiculed her character for the past month, turning her into an airhead who took nothing seriously [except bugging Arnav], not even her own situation. Then they threw in a few emotional scenes for her and expected me to feel for her...I could've felt for her had she not been playing Drama Queen and Airhead minutes before the big tears came. Honestly. If they'd ditched the comedian drama and focused on every single painful emotion that she carried around and her inner struggle, frustration, and pure desperation of knowing why she'd been blackmailed in the first... had she taken her own situation seriously instead of prancing around with a list of ways to bug Arnav [who, in fact, had started to change and care for her family along with her even more], then yeah, I would've felt for her and found the confrontation between her and Arnav impactful. I would have even sympathized with her.The switch from senseless comedy to seriousity cannot work in a show that used to be driven by character development and serious relationships. It just doesn't work.Khushi used to be a character that I adored, that I found refreshing, responsible, strong, determined, and honest -- pure from the heart. That has been ruined for me.No, Khushi is not Khushi as of late. But maybe the revelation in tonight's episode might become a turning point for her character -- that is, if the writers have realized what they've done wrong and fix their mistakes.I know that Khushi, as is in her name, is meant to be a happy person. But any normal and right-in-his-mind human being wouldn't have behaved the way Khushi has recently if they had experienced/been through what Khushi has. Pretending happiness doesn't equal being a kid with no common sense.
