Priyanka Chopra wishes her dad health on her birthday today

Just close family, no one else… That's how Priyanka has planned her birthday today. "Arrey, what birthday, yaar?" she says with mock-exasperation. "I will be 24 years old today. Isn't that a little too old to get all excited about my birthday? Cake, balloons, etc are for kids. Please don't remind me of my age! I can't believe I'm this old! My last birthday party was when I was 5. I still remember the cake, candles, singing, my parents making it the most special day of my childhood. When you're an adult, all that excitement is gone."
Priyanka's best friend from Delhi flew in last night to usher her birthday in. "Two other non-filmi friends will also be here. That's it. Besides them, there will only be my parents and my younger brother. They are my world, and they are the ones whom I want to bring in my birthday with. I'm a very private person. I like spending special days of my life with those who make my life special."
The day before her birthday there was an unexpected holiday for Priyanka. "Shooting was called off suddenly. But I might need to shoot today, instead. Fortunately the shooting will be in the second half of the day, so I'll at least be able to sleep late on my birthday. But no, I don't expect a late night tonight," she says. "My family and friends go to bed pretty early."
"Yes, I do like surprise birthday parties, but I don't expect one this time. And I do like lots of gifts on my birthday, who doesn't? But you know what's my greatest birthday gift? To have those who love me, around me," she says. "I'm very shy of people I'm not close to. Accepting birthday wishes from strangers becomes a bit of an ordeal. But I guess I've no choice."
Priyanka gets reflective about the year gone by. "I remember I celebrated my last birthday on the sets of Rohan Sippy's Bluff Master," she says. "Abhishek and Rohan got a cake, and I cut it. A lot has happened since then. I'd say my career has swung into the fast lane. So yeah, one of my birthday wishes is to continue holding on to the place that I've made for myself."
The actress, however, says that if she had only one birthday wish, she would wish for her dad's health. "I want him to come back from his final surgery in the US next month fully recovered," she says. "It's strange, but while on the work front I've had so much happiness, on the personal front we've all gone through hell because of dad's illness. I wish my 25th birthday to be totally stress-free. Will that wish come true?"
