Gurmeet Chaudhary: Show roles are not liable for success, failure

Tags: Gurmeet Choudhary, Punar Vivah, Yash, Zee Tv

The rumors are that ZEE TV fresh started re- marriage based show Punar Vivah is not getting much TRPs. The reason is assumed that fans of Gurmeet Chaudhary have not been comfortable to accept him as Yash and they are still engrossed with his last character Maan Singh Khurana.

However, Gurmeet Choudhary said that it cannot blame to characters for the success or failure of the show. His new show Punar Vivah is just one month old and people at least take two months to accept new show's story and characters.

Gurmeet further added that his last show Ramayan and Geet were also took time to become familiar. Punar Vivah is a new concept and its time also against other popular shows. So it will be surely take time to high up. He has also received good compliments for his new role Yash, added Gurmeet Choudhary.

GC is right!
U can't expect that one month old show to have the highest trps.
It will take time just like DABH.
DABH is now on number one!

I honestly do not know what people were expecting from this show...for it to open on a 4+ TRP?!? I mean right from the beginning the expectations from PV has been sky high and unrealistic to boot, it takes every show time to build a loyal fanbase, and you can't make any judgement just one month into the show about how it's clicking! Like GC said, at least 3 months are needed for a soap to start finding stable ground with the audience, and that's when the TRPs start rising!

And for a newbie this show has been doing phenomenal! I have seen at least 10 shows being launched in the last 6 months or so, all with big name actors and new concepts, and so far when it comes to TRP, PV has been the biggest hit. It started off with a 2.6 TRP and ever since then it has maintained the 2.0+ mark, a mark that takes shows months to reach, and some still don't get there! A lot of shows who are now 4 months old are still tethering on the 1s, so claiming that the show is not picking without giving it any time is seriously unfair. And taking about the Mittals' other show DABH, which is the TRP topper right now, it started off with such low TRPs that everyone thought it would be axed just a few months in, but after the 4 month mark it started gaining momentum and never looked back! And I have faith that good things will happen with PV as well :)

@Maham:

Seriously, people need to chill, right?! 😆

I really don't understand the TRP chakkar. Some of my favorite shows went off air (presumably) because of low TRPs (shows like Rishta.com & other Yash Raj shows). On the other hand, it frankly perplexes the life out of me that shows like DABH have high TRPs...Go figure. Obviously my taste is totally at odds with the majority. fine.

Having said that, I really have been amazed at how PV is managing pretty adroitly to balance romance, humor and the typical saas-bahu drama. Now, I could easily live without the saas-bahu drama altogether, but that's what many people like, and so I get that I have to learn to live with it. And frankly it's not too difficult because the rest of the show is SO freaking awesome.

What I am trying to say is that this show is the complete package. It caters to all manner of tastes. So, it can only do better and better. 😃 So relax and enjoy the ride!
