The Mukerjis are appalled at the rumours linking Rani to Aditya Chopra's domestic problems.
A recent report alleging filmmaker Aditya Chopra is filing for divorce from his wife Payal because of his growing interest in Rani Mukerji has enraged the latter's family. The Mukerjis are sure it's been done to damage their daughter's reputation. Father Ram brushes it off, "Why should one react to roadside gossip? It's complete nonsense! Please close this issue."
But Rani's mom Krishna doesn't mince words. "We do not know what is going on in Aditya Chopra's house — it's completely their problem. We have nothing to do with it. Why is Rani being dragged into their domestic problems? We don't even know if what has been written about Aditya's marriage is true or not. Rani has been busy and in fact she's been shooting for 'Baabul' day and night. How can they insinuate that Rani is involved in this? Why are they playing with her personal life? If they do not like any of her films or her acting, they have every right to talk about it because she is a celebrity. But why are rumours being spread about her personal life? Rani doesn't have a boyfriend. This is so ridiculous!"
Meanwhile, brother Raja is also hopping mad. "It's all patently false. If somebody is divorcing his wife, how can you hold Rani responsible? Just because she is doing films with somebody does not mean that she is having an affair. Suppose some other actress was doing three films with their company (Yash Raj Films) — even her name would have been dragged into it. Rani has the cleanest image in the industry and that's why her name is being dragged into this. Such rumours are very upsetting, but we are not bothered. We are not going to stop our work and start grieving!"
