I don't have a problem with comedies or escapist movies - while they are far from my favorite genres, they hold as much importance in films as any other genre does. I do, however, don't see why a movie needs to be 'mindless' in order to be entertaining - why should an entertaining movie needs to be devoid of logic, sense and meaning and riddled with glaringly obvious plot holes?
A lot of comedy movies have just as much depth, meaning and repeat values as do dramas.

I guess there is such a dearth of good comedies in Bollywood, and the average moviegoer is so ill-informed about world cinema and in utter need of an escapist flick, that any film with the slightest sign of comedy works well.

And what's up with the fetish with toilet/erotic humor? Nothing inherently wrong with that genre but comedy encompasses a hell lot more.

I hate these movies...I hope top actors like SRK, AMIR, HR will never do these kind of totally mind;less hit-run comedies... Bollywood is always abt being mindless, yet these films never make u laugh..these are too loud, over the top.
