So we are arriving at a consensus that the genre isnt bad , but does need some quality control...

and of course Sajid Khan needs to shut up 😉😆

Right now there is a worship syndrome prevailing for Salman in Bollywood and many South stars. When mindless films like Ready become blockbusters people find it tough to attribute any reasons for its success except star power. Hence the worship syndrome. Even if we as an audience dont worship stars...the industry which deals with stars does and thats enough for them.
But the problem with such a worship syndrome is that though one star is created...other stars like the director is ignored. For instance how many can tell the name of the director of Ready or Bodyguard. Contrast to the awareness levels about Sujoy Ghosh right now after one content based film.

in that sense, yes!
be that as it may.. i still feel that people focus too much on looks especially when it comes to mainstream cinema! such mentality is hardly conducive to moving in the other direction (focusing on talent rather than looks)..
industry has always been like this - chadte sooraj ko salaam karna! people are willing to overlook any faults of our popular actors/actresses... once someone new comes along, the same actors/actresses become overrated!
i'm sure those directors are getting good work, though they may not be as famous as the stars themselves.. i've to give aamir credit here (though he is a credit chor himself sometimes).. he worked with unknown/new directors which people like SRK wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole, but are now bending over backwards to work with so they can repeat the same success that aamir had with those directors!

I appreciate the intentions of mindless movies. They're meant for you to unwind with, after a rough patch, tiring day, or if you've just been feeling like shit lately.

But when these movies cross the line and get offensive, its a no go. Take Housefull 2 for example. They made fun of heart patients, dark-skinned people, dwarfs, and countless other shit...

don't they think people with heart conditions, dark skin, genetic disorders watch their movies as well? What do they get out of making them feel like shit

it's easy to pick on people like sajid, because it's so in-your-face! however, people in real life do that all the time in the name of 'good fun' and 'freedom of speech'!
p.s. i'm NOT sajid khan! 😆

^ 😆 I know man, Sajid would sound loooads different LOL

you pack a good point.
I just think its uncalled or in the media, esp. through a genre that claims to cater to one and all and stuff

Haven't watched Housefull2 but caught Housefull1 the other day. Some scenes were too ridiculous...like Boman/Akshay/Ritesh slapping each other stupidly. 🤢
But yeah, I enjoy this genre too. Who doesn't like to laugh? 'No entry' was hilarious!!

Tell me about it!

No entry was hilarious 😆 the faces that Fardeen Khan keeps making...I thought it came to him naturally 😆

the last scene is HILARIOUS where he says..prem bhai...main aa raha hoon 😆 aur sab latak jaate hai 😆 I laughed so much while watching it...I think theater mein sabko laga hoga that I have lost it 😆

Housefull 1 had its funny moments too... but yeah that scene was ridiculous...first half was better...then it dragged...

I agree with you MB...who doesn't like to laugh and unwind...but thodi bahut quality honi chahiye!

I agree...thats one of SRK's faults. He rarely works with people outside his comfort level. But on the other hand I dont understand what happens to the directors Aamir launches. Look at what happenned to Ashutosh Gowarikar and the Sarfarosh guy. No one apparently wants to do Ashutosh's film. And the Sarfarosh director has moved to B grade projects apparently directing people like Himesh.
Coming to directors of Ready/Bodyguard...last heard Salman had a fall out with the Ready director and he is out of work. The Bodyguard director I think has gone back to South films as Salman or any other A lister dont have dates for him.
Contrast that with Tigmanshu Dhulia, Sujoy Ghosh...the industry is bending backwards to work with them.
