People spends money to get entertained.Mindless or thought provoking does not matter. If a hard hitting film is entertaining it will be watched by the mass.Entertainment,entertainment,entertainment.

I too don't mind mindless comedies but it irks me when I see a message at the start of a film like Housefull 1 saying This film is a tribute to Hrishikeh Mukherjee🤢

I personally did not enjoy Housefull 2 because I didn't see anything new from the last installment.
And after Ikke pe Ikka I at least expect some intelligent comedy from Sajid.

😲 really? I missed that...

You need a mix of both...

I mean I can't watch mindless Jargon all the time but they do make a good laugh till you stomach hurts and you need comedy...

But I like movies that have a good plot and climax...

Everyone has a genre of cinema they prefer some just like comedy over thought provoking cinema! As entertainment is a form of escape-ism, I mean you don't want to always be watching a movie that requires your full concentration all the time.

From this thread its obvious that no one minds watching a mindless but entertaining film. What I have a problem with is near worship of the masters of this genre we have been seeing the last couple of years. Taran Adarsh's article is once again an attempt at the similar worship of a new star-Sajid Khan.
Another problem with mindless fare is public taste is very fickle. The makers never know where they will land up next. Like Subhas Ghai was once the master of mindless fare. Now everyone would run miles away from his films.

Like in his previous blockbuster Heyy Babyy, Sajid Khan is paying tribute again to the iconic directors of the 70s and the 80s in his forthcoming film Housefull.

The opening credits of Heyy Babyy saw a thank you note to all actresses who made a special appearance in the title song of the film, and this time, Sajid"s Housefull will have a note paying tribute to directors of the 70s and 80s, some of whom include masterminds like Manmohan Desai, Prakash Mehra, Feroz Khan, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, K. Raghavendra Rao and Ravi Tandon.

Talking about this tribute, Housefull director Sajid Khan says, "Housefull is my humble homage to these directors. The films they"ve made have redefined Indian Cinema with 1 word – entertainment. They made some of the most entertaining films of the 70s and the 80s."

Eros International and Sajid Nadiadwala"s Housefull starring Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone,Lara Dutta, Ritiesh Deshmukh, Arjun Rampal, Jiah Khan, Randhir Kapoor and Boman Irani is set to hit the screen on April 30.

btw i dont get this mindless genre...

becoz out of the movies we make...how many of them carries the 'mind' thing 😆 so this question is ruled out at the end. its just a movie...love it or trash it.
