Esha's religious fad
Lucknow, July 12: Looks like Esha Deol is all set to revive the hippie trend in India. The cult which spread like a virus in the 70's had a unique style of displaying their religious belief with style. Inscribing religious visible tattoos on the body was a part of hippie styling and guess Esha's been trying to recreate something similar. At the music launch of Rocky – The Rebel, Esha Deol was flaunting a 'Gayatri mantra' tattoo painted on her back. The entire Gayatri mantra was painted below the right shoulder while there was an 'Om' symbol on the other side. This is definitely a new style statement that Esha has made here. Interesting way to show the world how religious you are but just hope it does not evoke a controversy with the moral police. Playing Saif
Actors turning producers is not new in Bollywood. It has always been noticed that after establishing themselves as successful actors, many actors then turn towards production. The latest to undergo the transition is the brother sister duo Saif and Soha Ali Khan. The two are planning to set up their production house in the coming months. For the first few projects however, they will be joining hands with big production houses like Ekta Kapoor's and some others. The first film will have Saif playing the lead role.
Ajay's film on 26/7
After Raveena Tandon and Anupam Kher now its Ajay Devgan's turn to work on social front. It is believed that Ajay Devgan is producing and editing a short film tentatively titled The Awakening directed by Faruque Kabir. However, the film is not a fiction but based on a real life traumatic 26/7 episode in which a child lost his parents. It's about how a child looses his parents and goes through the pain. A child artiste, Anjaan Ali Khan plays the lead role. A three minute short film has been scheduled to release on 14th July. Ajay explained that his idea of this short film is to show that if a six year child can learn from 26/7 then why can't we be equally responsible? It could happen to not just Mumbai, but any city in India. Quest for a medium
For a man who had convinced himself and the world of his lasting interest in Hindi and regional cinema — Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Paheli being his latest thought provoker — Amol Palekar has just done a volte-face. His latest venture, Quest, starring Mrinal Kulkarni, Rishi Deshpande, Shishir Sharma and Vijaya Mehta, will be in English. This is the director's first attempt at English, though he has made movies in Hindi and Marathi. Written by Palekar's wife, Sandhya Gokhale, Quest will also be made in Marathi, where it will be titled Thaang. The film premiered at the Brisbane Film Festival yesterday and will be released in India in August. However, Palekar's quest for the right medium still remains a paheli.
