Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan made a fabulous pair in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's
Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. But after their turbulent personal equation became public, there seems little chance of them signing a film in the future. This is not the first hit jodi to fizzle out in Bollywood. Here's a look at pairs you will probably not see anymore.
Aishwarya Rai-Salman Khan Many believe
Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam is Aishwarya's best performance till date. Her chemistry with Salman was amazing, and no hero has been able to match up to it on screen. The two will probably never make another film together. 'The Salman chapter was a nightmare in my life and I am thankful to god that all is over,' Aishwarya once
said.
Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, a common friend, tried to patch them up by asking them to star in his film Bajirao Mastani. They refused, and the film has been since shelved.
Mallika Sherawat-Emraan Hashmi Emraan Hashmi may have become a bigger star than Mallika Sherawat now, but
Murder's -- the film that catapulted both to stardom -- success was largely due to Mallika. With her low necklines and bold statements, Mallika won over audiences, and made it clear to one and all that
Murder was the year's biggest hit all thanks to her. Obviously, her co-stars Hashmi and Ashmit Patel were wounded. Even producer Mahesh Bhatt was upset. Mallika moved out of the Bhatt camp, and till date, has not signed any film with the Bhatts or Hashmi.
Aamir Khan-Salman Khan Raj Kumar Santoshi pulled off a casting coup when he signed two of Bollywood's biggest stars Salman Khan and Aamir Khan in
Andaz Apna Apna. Interestingly, Santoshi chose a comedy rather than making a love story, which was a trend for filmmakers in those times. All reports indicate the Khans did not get along famously and that there was much rivalry and trying to steal the limelight going on. Yet, on-screen, the two actors were hilarious, and brought on the laughs easily. The film was completed inspite of the fact that Santoshi had to handle huge egos of both the actors on the sets.
Andaz Apna Apna is now considered a classic comedy. Unfortunately, it is unlikely the two actors will work together in the foreseeable future.

Sanjay Dutt-Madhuri Dixit Madhuri Dixit and choreographer Saroj Khan did what no other dance director could do. They made Sanjay Dutt dance beautifully for the first time in
Thanedar. The song was
Tama tama logey, 'composed' by Bappi Lahiri. Industry buzz was that it was not only the song that became a hit. The pair went on to do successful movies like
Sahibaan, Saajan and then
Khalnayak. Unfortunately, with Dutt's brush with the law during the serial blasts in Mumbai in 1993, things cooled off between the two.
Madhuri never worked with Dutt again and though she plans to make a comeback in the industry, it seems unlikely that this pair will work together again.
Aamir Khan-Juhi Chawla After
Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla became the darlings of the country. They became trendsetters for lovers who wanted to rebel in those days. They went on to act in successful films like
Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke and
Ishq. But reportedly, an Aamir prank in Ishq made Juhi lose her cool. After the film was over, Juhi vowed never to work with Aamir again. She went on to do films with Shah Rukh Khan, while Aamir went his own way. It was only recently that the two patched up, when Aamir visited Juhi after her father passed away.
The ice may have broken, but it's unlikely that the two will romance each other on screen again soon.
Amitabh Bachchan-Rekha Reams have been written about Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha. And more than two decades later, people still want to read about the equation between them. The duo may have acted together in films like
Mr Natwarlal and
Muqaddar Ka Sikandar but think of Amitabh-Rekha and the first film that springs to most people's mind is
Silsila. The film had Jaya Bahaduri as Amitabh Bachchan's wife and Rekha as the other woman in their life, though she is married to Sanjeev Kumar in the film.
Silsila was made at a time when the buzz about the Amitabh-Rekha relationship was at its peak. Director Yash Chopra pulled off a casting coup by convincing all the actors ready to do the film but unfortunately,
Silsila did not do well at the box office.
Twenty five years later, it seems unlikely that Amitabh and Rekha will share a frame again.
