Celebs talk about intimate scenes on TV
Aishwarya Sakhuja
With liplocks and intimate scenes popping up in prime time shows of late, TOI asks telly hotties what they feel

Giaa Manek I've not watched the so-called intimate scenes which were aired on the various prime time shows of late. As far as I am concerned, whether I want to do such scnes depends on my role. I need to be convinced that the intimate scenes fit in the story-line. I won't do such scenes just for TRPs. As an actor, I have no inhibitions, but they need to be justified.

Pratyusha Banerjee I'm not at all comfortable doing intimate scenes. I've certain moral ethics which I follow. I come from a small town and my family will not like it. Also, in future, the family I'll be the part of might not approve of such onscreen scenes. I'll never do these scenes.

Aishwarya Sakhuja We are actors and if The Script demands, I wouldn't mind doing intimate scenes. Having said that, we all know TV is an accessible medium to all age groups so, I'll ensure that scene is aired on the prime time band, so that only adults can watch it.

Sonarika Badhoria I've just done an intimate scene in Tum Dena Saath Mera. Honestly, initially I was a little uncomfortable about enacting such a scene in front of so many people on the set. It's my first show so I was feeling conscious. However, my producers and creative team explained the importance of the scene in the story and script at that time and that made me more comfortable. At the end of the day it's a challenge that an actor should take up.

Krystal D'Souza Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar are senior actors, I've seen the episode and there wasn't anything bad about their intimate scenes. But, as a new-comer I don't want to risk doing scenes which my family might not approve of. Also, TV is a family medium so such scenes can be avoided.

Barun Sobti I don't think I will ever do any intimate scene on screen. However, that's absolutely my personal take, and has nothing do with any moral code of conduct or viewership requirement etc.

Karan Tacker I really don't mind doing intimate scenes. I don't think there should be any problem because it is part of the profession and when you are into an intimate scene, there's no feeling, it is shot in a very technical manner. If I were to put it in a word, these scenes have an almost 'clinical' feel to them. When you have a crew of 20 people surrounding you and if these scenes are justified by the script, why not do them? Just because TV has a family viewership doesn't mean we should act coy! Today even children access internet, so rather than watching po*n, why not educate them properly?

Gurmeet Chaudhary No way! I am not at all comfortable doing such scenes on television. Let's not forget that TV is a medium that is viewed together by families. Indians are still very traditional and conservative. I have to take care of sentiments of my audience. I don't mind going shirtless, but intimate scenes are out.

Kinshuk Mahajan I won't do such intimate scenes or even lip locks. I am not comfortable with them. I am happy doing soaps which cater to the family audience. In India, families don't want to see intimate stuff on television with their kids.

Karanvir Bohra I think steamy scenes are way too hyped on TV. We have to break the 'log kya kahenge' mindset. We are getting there, slowly but surely, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain has tried it, so have Amrit Manthan and Tum Dena Saath Mera and I am sure more shows will air such intimate scenes in the near future and it's a positive sign for sure. I am game for a full fledged steamy scene which are filmed aesthetically. I am sure my fans would love to see me kiss on screen. I have no reservations at all.

I just feel like we are losing the indian culture by adopting too many western lifestyles. they are called "intimate" moments for a reason. It's not usually for public display! I am an indian dil se even though I live abroad and trust me, exposing children and the younger generation to all this stuff TOO MUCH and TOO EARLY is creating too many distracttions for young people and they are forgetting teh things that matter at this age - education, family, good value buildup, being a KID, etc!

😕

Loved Gurmeet's answer and the rest who had similar opinion.
I myself feel the same.
The kind of audience that TV caters to is different from films. A tv show is usually watched by the entire family together while its always possible to choose for the audience which film to watch.
Also, the kind of intimate scenes that we hv seen on tv- frankly, i hv never understood why they were being shown...becoz the show would be perfect even witout those scenes (i am not talking about BALH.or any particular show...this is in general). Romance need not be explicit always. some things look better if they r kept subtle.

I don't know guyz why TV celebrities are taking only lip lock as intimate scenes. Are they not educated or being in the entertainment industry do they doesn't know what the intimate scene exactly means. For instance take the interview of Gurumeet he said he is against doing intimate scenes but how many intimate scenes he is did with Drasti in Geet, say it the song Roop Tera Mastana, how intimate and steamy it was and more over he always be shirtless so according to him these were not intimate scenes. Frankly speaking Geet was the first TV show where i have seen so steamy and intimate scenes and that's the reason why i have fallen for Gurumeet and Drasti for their professionalism but after reading his interview i was totally shocked. Hmmm Gurumeet you need to be educated more if the scenes you have done in Geet were not intimate then what would you consider the intimate scenes to be.😆Grow up and refresh your knowledge, common you are into the entertainment industry and does know exactly what intimate means please next time while giving an interview think twice..?

Diclaimer: The interview about Gurumeet is totally about my POV so no bashes on my post coz am not against Guru, in fact am a very die heart fan of him but his interview has bothered me a lot and couldn't sense any reality in it. So kindly request don't comment on my post...

Being shirtless is not being intimate. the scenes in GHSP were romantic scenes and obviously intimate (if one is going by the dictionary meaning of intimate) but they do not fall in the category of "intimate scenes" that is being talked about in this article. Here they mean something which is explicit. and those scenes in GHSP were not explicit scenes!
