Parmeet Sethi who plays Raj, executive at Gulmohur Fashion house and skirt-chasing pal to CEO Armaan Suri, is looking at the writing on the wall as far as Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin is concerned. Asked whether he is happy with the way his role is shaping up on Jassi, Parmeet said, "What role? There is no role. I haven't been on air for nearly a month." Is he out of the show? "Not as yet, not out. Let's say it's a point of discussion. Will they reinvent the character or do away with it? I don't know. If they can weave it convincingly into the plot, great, I'll be happy. If not, I guess they'll come to me and say sweetly - 'Parmeet, find something else to do.' It's really not my call. The channel has to decide and I'll know in a week or two, I guess."
In an earlier interview, Sethi had said, "My contract is ending soon, and the negotiations don't look like they're going in my favour. I am not happy with my fee and I just want to ensure that I don't get a raw deal. Normally, a contract is for one year. I have signed a one-and-a-half year deal. Besides, my price has gone up over the last two years and I deserve a fresh contract."
The actor also did not like being off the show - he felt his character wasn't being given enough importance. "Instead of being promoted, I felt demoted," he had said.Even as Jassi went the glam-ma'am way in recent months, the original story of the hugely popular serial has dived into clichd mush and drama. Currently, the Suris (Armaan's family) are busy playing spoilsport in the lovers' lives. Where does all this leave Parmeet's 'Raj'? The glory days of the show thrived on him and Armaan hitting on models, party-hopping, cannibalizing Jassi's brains for purposes of work and using their own for cracking dirty jokes. Then Armaan, made the cardinal sin of falling in love with Jassi. Words were exchanged between the buddies but the story continued the way it had to…Armaan was in love and Raj was left to his own devices. If that did not take the sheen off the character altogether, Raj had to finally capitulate as well and come around to supporting his friend. Raj is Raj no more. So what can Parmeet do on Jassi now?
