SRK & Hrithik: Bonding with the best!

We told you about Hrithik hosting a special screening for Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar before the release of Krrishi, and about how the two of them loved the film. Now we hear lately SRK has this special fondness for the Roshan lad - only one good actor appreciates the other, right? When Hrithik made a flying visit to London to promote his film, SRK (who was holidaying there with his family) hosted a special dinner for him. Arjun Rampal, who's currently shooting there for his home-production with Chunky Pandey, also joined the celebration dinner. The Roshans were obviously very touched by King Khan's gesture. One Superstar bonding with another Superhero. Now that's called bonding with the best!

Actor Akshay Kumar may have great comic timing, but we just learnt that son Aarav may just not know of his dad's talents. Apparently, Kumar hasn't shown Aarav any of his flicks, not even the most recently released Phir Hera Pheri that made news at the box office. The actor says, "I don't show him my movies. He's too small. I guess cartoons et al would amuse him much more and keep him entertained in ways that my films won't." Now that's a point!

The last time she grooved with Aby Baby for a special track for Bluffmaster, it went on to become a roaring hit. Taking a cue from that, director Dharmesh Darshan has something similar up his sleeve for his forthcoming film. The Chopra babe will be shooting a special promotional music video for Aap Ki Khatir, and from what we gather, this one is going to be another hot number. Keeping her fingers crossed, excitedly she says, "The last time I did it for Bluffmaster it was super successful. I'm hoping we repeat the same magic this time again." Well recently, Alag's multi-starrer music video was a treat to watch, but sadly, the film scored a duck at the B.O. So, shooting cool music videos isn't a novel idea anymore, but for your sake, we hope the film works as well gal!

While the John-Bipasha relationship is right now the talk of town and under intense media scrutiny, biker boy John quietly slipped out of town - to avoid the sudden interest in his personal life, claimed the gossip mill. But the actor is actually shooting right now in Cape Town. "After the stage shows abroad he returned to Mumbai, spent some time with his parents, before flying off to South Africa for the shooting of his film. It was a prior commitment," says a source close to the star. So luckily, the actor will be spared the trouble of explaining an alleged troubled relationship. As for us, we say leave this good looking couple alone, guys - they've been open about their relationship and will be equally open otherwise!

Here's one little interesting gossip we picked up recently. Apparently newcomer Jiah who has got a mind blowing debut in Ramgopal Varma's Nishabd opposite none other than Amitabh Bachchan, was actually supposed to start off with the Bhatt camp. However, things apparently got ugly and accusations flew right, left and centre, and Jiah was soon out of the Bhatts' favourite list. But looks like that loss has resulted in the actress getting an even better launch pad - as the modern Lolita this time. And to act opposite Big B - now Jiah must be thanking her lucky stars about her past. Must say, it's all destiny!

Remember the bespectacled music director Pritam? Yeah the same guy who hit a high note with his chartbusting music in Dhoom and followed it up recently with another chartbuster in the form of Gangster. The music director is all set to come tops yet again with the chartbusting numbers of the Rahul Bose-Mallika Sherawat starrer Pyaar Ke Side Effects. "I have gone in for some peppy Bhangra mix kind of music and it's going to appeal to all the age groups," says Pritam. Good to see another music director thriving in the land ruled by the Himesh Reshammiyas and the Anu Maliks!

For all of you who missed that cute blue alien Jadoo in the KMG sequel Krrish, (he only appears in one flashback scene) need not despair, thanks to the mega success of the sequel (apparently it has crossed close to Rs 70 crores in its first week making it the highest first week grosser), Rakesh Roshan - who till now was uncertain about completing a trilogy - is now all gung-ho about the third part to the series. In fact, senior Roshan called us from London to inform, "I'm thrilled at the response and the collections. It's apparently the biggest hit opening in the history of Indian cinema. And it's pushed the music too. I'm very proud of this and also of the fact that Indian audiences have matured enough to accept a superhero." When probed whether there would be a third part, Rakesh was tentative, "I have that idea and now that Krrish has got such a super response, I may just go through with it." Incidentally, even Hrithik, when quizzed by Times Now, admitted, "If Krrish gets really big, meaning the audience is ready for 'super heroics'; and in the trilogy - who knows - we could just have India's very first flying hero with all the powers you see in Superman, etc., with a little jadoo," he cleverly punned, leaving our imaginations wide open. So all of you, blue without the blue creature - your time could come.

Actress Kareena Kapoor seems to love her rustic roles and non-glam image more than her hep-pep 'Poo' ones. The actress, who'll soon be seen in Vishal Bhardwaj's Omkara, definitely has a weakness for on-screen simplicity. When we ask her to name her best roles in her journey so far, Bebo is quick to say, "There are very few roles that have given me satisfaction - Refugee, Asoka, Chameli, Yuva and now Omkara. I myself can't believe what I have done here." Well, if one had to analyse her pick, one could easily say that Kareena likes to keep it simple. Right?

She's known for her histrionics and her love-hate relationship with the media, but of late the queen of oomph has gone totally off the press and isn't doing any talking even when her film with Rahul Bose is awaiting release. She did the same thing on the eve of the release of Subhash Ghai's Shaadi Se Pehle, and even refused to promote it, prompting a fuming Ghai to apparently swear never to work with her again. "She wants to keep a low profile and stay miles away from the media for the time being," says a source close to the star. Wonder why the sudden change in her behavior and what she's trying to hide?

Actor Upen Patel may be doing well for himself on the professional front, but we don't know how well he is faring on the personal. Now, with a great bid like his, heavy Brit accent and of course the fame and the name, it's quite a wonder that UP hasn't been linked to anybody after his break up with Amrita Arora. While Amu has definitely moved on, hasn't Upen been as lucky in matters of the heart? He says, "I may or may not have moved on…. I'm not saying anything. So, let the guessing games start." Well, it's a game you have begun, Upen…

Being refined as a person can make it difficult to play crude characters on screen. At least Saif Ali Khan feels that way. Apparently, even though he's received good reviews from friends about his new look for the role of Iago (called Langda Tyagi in the film) in Vishal Bharadwaj's adaptation of Othello, the actor didn't find it easy to fit into the character, especially since it is very different from his real life personality. He not only had trouble with the dialogues due to the dialect, but it was quite a challenge altogether to get into that kind of a character. Saif reveals, "The character is not at all refined. It's a very crude kind of character. It was not something that would come naturally to me. So it's a very academically challenging role. The character is extremely removed from my own personality - the way he walks, talks, etc., is totally against my own behavior." And to think he looks so convincing!

While everyone is waiting anxiously to watch the mega debut of star kids Sonam (Anil Kapoor's daughter) and Ranbir (Rishi - Neetu Kapoor's son) in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya, there's another kid gearing up to make an entry into tinsel ville. Aditya Panscholi's daughter, Sana, will be launched in Suneel Darshan's next film. For a newcomer, this will be quite a significant debut - she'll be starring with the dashing Deol - Bobby, and the hottie Upen Patel. And knowing the way the Darshans package and promote their films, we're sure this new kid will be seen and heard enough. Though we're wondering what prompted Bobs to share screen-space with a newbie. Is it just goodwill, or is she really good? We'll know soon…

While many stars swear not to work with each other after verbal combats and nasty spats on the sets, this leggy lass sees things rather differently. Recently, her show-down with Kim Sharma on the sets of Tom Dick and Harry, was fodder for the media, but Celina seems unperturbed about it. In fact, when asked if she would ever work with Kim again, pat came her reply, "I'm here to do my job, and I'm being paid for that. Just because I don't get along with someone doesn't mean I won't work with them. It's great to make friends, but I am not here to just make friends." We like the attitude CJ. We hope Kim is listening to this too!

This gal is a true Bong. Talk to her about art, movies and Bengal - and she'll find an instant connection. Of course, the look of pride on her face is evident. "Look at filmmakers like Satyajit Ray, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Mrinal Sen - they're all geniuses. Bengali women are exceptional as far as music, dance, theatre and cinema is concerned. Of course, everybody doesn't have it in them. I know of so many Bengalis who came to Bollywood to become stars, but eventually packed their bags and headed back to Kolkata. By and large in this industry the Bongs fly high," claims this young sensation. Well gal, keep going Bong Bong!

Though Jr Bachchan has managed to emerge from the shadow of his famous parents and has now established his own identity, that apparently doesn't stop him from being a mama's boy - in a good sense of course. And the disclosure came straight from Abhishek. When he was asked how he choose his outfits, the actor revealed, "I don't pay attention to all this. My mom takes care of it. I wear what she chooses for me in the morning." Now we know the secret behind his attractive wardrobe!

Although a lot of people who have read Shakespeare's Othello feel that the lead character is a weak person for doubting his wife, Ajay Devgan, it seems, disagrees with this notion - or at least feels that the character he plays in Vishal Bharadwaj's adaptation of Othello is far from weak. "Omi (or Omakara) is not a weak character. He does what he thinks is right according to him." Devgan further explains that Omkara doesn't believe unless and until proof is provided. Now whether this is because of Vishal's adaptation or whether Othello was really a strong character, is debatable. Guess we'll just have to wait and watch for the answer!

Even while Karan's entire production unit is working at break-neck speed adding final touches to KANK, a part of KJ's attention (however little) is diverted to the next venture. Yeah, very unlike the Karan we know, but the lad's promised to make us 'feel good' more often, remember? Well, we're talking about his next production venture to be directed by Soham (of Kaal fame). The film made news from its onset, as it marked the coming together of old buddies - Kareena Kapoor and Karan Johar (they patched up after almost two years). Now we hear, the hunky Sanjay Dutt and John Abraham have also been signed on for this project. We think there's gonna be some feel-good action for a change out here. What say, KJ?
