Sonam & Dhanush in Raanjhnaa!

It's final now! Sonam Kapoor has been signed opposite Dhanush in the actor's Bollywood debut, Raanjhnaa, to be directed by Aanand L Rai.

When quizzed about his choice, Rai reasons, "I was on the lookout for a lovely girl who would have the potential to play a small town girl with an edge - someone smart and upbeat. Sonam suits the character perfectly.

There was a date issue but now everything has been sorted out and she is doing the film. We start shooting in June. She is an honest actress who understands the character very well. She will have various looks in the film as she ages in the film from 17-25 years." Raanjhnaa is apparently set in Varanasi.

About acting with Sonam Kapoor, Dhanush says, "I really haven't thought too much about it. For me, it's the script and the character. I fell in love with Kundan and the script. I just can't wait to start being Kundan!"

In Kollywood, Dhanush's Bollywood project is being much-talked about as it is the actor's debut in the Hindi film industry. Very few south actors have managed to make it big in B-Town and post the phenomenal success of the actor's Kolaveri Di... song, all eyes here are on him.

is Dhanush a good actor? hes extremely popular because of Koleveri Di and hopefully that will help this film... Sonam needs a hit and this one sounds good!

Sonam plays the small-town girl role well... I liked her in Delhi 6 and the Punjab portions of Mausam. She does have that innocence and vulnerability on her face...

Hold up! Is this the adaptation for Revolution 2020 by Chetan Bhagat? 😲 Cuz there were confirmed reports by Chetan Bhagat that he sold the rights for the book to UTV and that they are definately planning to make the book into a movie! Plus Sonam was at the launch of the book as well! I imagined her as Aarti throughout the book, I think she suits the character really well! 👍🏼

I agree. It works for her. She seems very comfortable in these roles...let's hope this one is a good movie! *fingers crossed*
