Politician cum producer of a few Kannada films S.Ramesh, the former information minister and former President of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce died of massive heart attack in Bangalore. He was 52. He leaves behind his wife a son and daughter.
S.Ramesh known as Slum Ramesh for his work for the welfare of downtrodden when he was the minister of information in S.Bangarappa chief minister period was the champion of poor and he was an able organizer in the Congress I political party.
As a producer he made films such as Raviverma, Cheluva and recently 'Thandege Thakka Maga' a remake of Tamil blockbuster 'Thevar Magan'. Upendra, Ambarish, Saakshi Shivanand, Laya starred in this remake Kannada film. The day before his death he inquired director Naganna to produce a film starring Dr.Vishnuvardhana. He had announced another film starring Upendra and director S.Mahender on the release day of his ambitious film 'Thandege Thakka Maga' that was miserable in the box office.
A good human being always stood behind the persons in difficulty was also controversial in his regime as information minister. The firing that took place at Kunigal caused great worries for him.
As film chamber President he raised funds for the building of the film chamber at Crescent Road. S.Ramesh is known for good hospitality in his entire career.
