When did she say that? She said she hates the WORD Item song.

She finds the "word" item song deragatory.

And I agree with her. It objectifies women. It implies you're an object tossed into a film where you dont belong just to tantalize men.

She wants that "item" bit to be removed and have it just be called doing a song. Becuase its not any differnet than what a leading lady does in her own film.

IN this film, if she's a spy going undercover as a mujra waali, that's art. That's cinema, that's ACTING.

And she never refused the Dabangg song. She said she's still thinking about it.

I mean Kareena did a guess appearance in Marjaani, she did one in Its Rocking.

What was so vulguar about both these songs?

And if an actress does a seductive song in her own film, its NOT called item. WHY?

DG, I didn't like the video..But the song is growing on me.. N in these stills did you purposefully choose ones where KK looks better... In all the snaps..😛 😆

Removing the word "item" won't change the nature of the song. Also, progress is being made to introduce gender equality in the item number genre: in the post-2000 era we have seen the birth of item boys (SRK in Kaal, Aamir in Delhi Belly, etc; Rakht had Abhishek, Bipasha and Yana Gupta in 2 item numbers and so on and so forth). You can't escape objectification in the entertainment industry but you can attempt to be fair to all genders by objectifying them all. 😆

LOL, there were a zillion pics and to add em all to the gallery woudl have taken forever, so I chose the ones where Bebo looked good coz its her gallery 😆

Kal El, but that is the strange part, that a song is termed "item" song if someone other than the lead heroine does it.

So if a Vidya does a seductive number in her own film, its not an item song. But if she does aguest song in someone else's film that's not as seductive, it still gets termed item song.

So its that word item that's the problem here 😆

I don't see the problem. The song featuring a guest appearance is obviously separate from the rest of the songs in the film. You can't count it with the other songs (it is made to stand out; there's no way to ignore this fact). There are people who have made a career out of doing such numbers. You have to call it something. "Item" hi sahi.
