Chapter 14
Maan returned back in the evening and went upstairs to change. He came out wearing tracks and a t-shirt and was astounded by Geet who entered the room with a bright smile on her face. He noticed the tray in her hand with two cups.
Geet noticed his gaze on the tray – "Aapki coffee and my tea. I have got some light snacks par aapko kuch specific cahiye?"
Saying this she kept the tray on the table and sat on the sofa waiting for him to join.
Maan looked at her for few moments and then walked towards her formulating his thoughts in to sentences.
"Yeh sab tum kya kar rahi ho aur rather kyon kar rahi ho. I said I needed time then why are you trying to do all these things. I don't expect you to do your wifely duties when I am not able to fulfill my own responsibilities as a husband"
Geet just laughed out aloud confusing Maan further.
"God Maan….aap na sach mein bahut boring ho. Responsibility…duties….are it is just a cup of coffee."
She got up and held his hand pushing him onto the sofa.
"Look, we can at least sit and talk na….aur coffee to aap pite hi ho is time….toh yeh lo"
Saying this she gave him a cup with coffee prepared just the way he liked it – black with one spoon sugar. She also took her own cup and started sipping her tea. She asked Maan to start with her eyes and he finally took one sip and instantaneously felt relaxed with the perfect taste.
"Hmm….ok now let's talk. Pehle toh I am not doing any wifely duties" Geet started chirpily double quoting wifely duties with her fingers.
"I thought we were friends…agar friends bhi na sahi…roommate toh hain hi na. So I am just having my evening tea with my room mate because it is boring otherwise. There is no pressure on you…hmmm….am I asking for too much…ab itna toh hum kar hi sakte hain na. I mean what is the fun in having tea-coffee alone when you can have it with a friend?"
Maan could not help but marvel at the never dying enthusiasm of the girl sitting in front of him. Anyone in her place would have broken but here she sat happily chatting even after he broke her heart so brutally.
He could do nothing but nod at her – "You are right. By the way thanks for giving this relationship another chance and for coming back. I just need some time to gather my thoughts and …"
Geet stopped him in middle – "koi jaldi nahi hai….you take your time…as I said no pressure...waise bhi saari zindagi padi hai"
Maan literally looked at her with wide eyes
Geet just ignored his look and continued
"Nahi…mera matlab…I understand. You take your time. And please, don't say thanks…hmmm. Woh kya hai na, I took this decision for myself so you don't need to thank me. As a matter of fact aaj toh mujhe thanks kehna chaiye aapko."
Maan looked at her in confusion.
"Haan…woh "Hope" ko room mein lagane ke liye"
Maan just nodded and then could not help himself from adding cheekily – "hmmm….uski zaroorat nahi. As you said, we are friends and also a roommate toh itna toh mein bhi kar sakta hoon apne friend cum roommate ke liye"
Geet laughed out loud – "so toh hai"
Maan continued –"haan…lekin you don't need to take out my clothes in the morning. Woh mein khud kar sakta hoon."
Geet stopped laughing and looked at him seriously for a moment. A gaze of understanding passed through them but instantaneously Geet shook her shoulders and transformed her face with a mischievous smile.
"Sorry Mr. Khurana. For outside world, you are my husband and your image impacts me. Toh kal se aap wahi pehnoge joh mein kahoongi. After all yeh Geet Maan Singh Khurana ki izzat ka sawal hai"
Maan kept down his empty cup – "What do you mean. I am always well dressed"
Geet – "Honge….but now it is my concern as well. So you can tell me your needs but kapde toh mein hi naikaloongi. Geet wahi karti hai jo uski marzi hoti hai. Waise chaiye toh aap bhi mujhe bata sakte hain what I should wear or not….I won't mind…ok"
Maan almost paled at the thought of suggesting her what to wear. Geet stifled her laugh looking at his expression and gathered his cup and stood.
"Bye Mr. Khurana….neeche jaldi aa jayiega dinner pe"
Saying this she winked at Maan and left the room.
Maan almost sat like a statue and then realized that so naughtily she had made him agree to something she wanted to do for him even when he said no.
"Yeh ladki mujhe pagal kar degi….is toh koi farak hi nahi padta aur kaise hukum chala ke chali gayi. Sach mein apni marzi ki karti hai.
But I understand why you are doing this. Thik hai…why should I say no. Agar woh is rishte ke liye kuch karna chahti hai toh mein kyon mana kar raha hoon. Till she does not expect or pressurize me and till I don't ask her to do it…tab tak...agar use yeh sab karke khushi milti hai toh why not. Itna toh mein uske liye kar hi sakta hoon especially after all the sacrifices she is doing for me"
