Part Nine

Udayveer was pacing the main hall when the girls arrived back. He smirked with relief upon seeing them. But he could sense some tension as they both broke into what he knew were fake smiles.

"Tum dono itni der kahan thi?," he asked.

He gave his sister and wife firm looks of suspicion.

Unnati could tell her brother probably wouldn't be happy. Manyata had no idea what Udayveer would do or say. She did not recollect how angry just Akash's name made Udayveer feel.

" Dada we went to meet Sonia but then..," Unnati trailed off.

"That same guy from the airport was there," Manyata stammered.

Unnati glanced at her aghast.

She wasn't even trying to hide the truth.

Udayveer's eyes turned red and his fists were clenched.

" Dekho relax. I scolded him badly. He shouldn't bother us now. We should prepare for Jai Nandini's enagement. Chalo Unnati we should go pick out clothes. Your stuff is back at the hotel right? Oh wait I am so silly. My things should be there too," Manyata quipped as she tried to smother the rising tension in the room.

Manyata tried to lead Unnati outside, but Udayveer stopped them.

"Unnati tum hotel jao. Hum aur aap ki bhabhi aate hain," he declared.

The girls exchanged worried looks. Unnati gave her arm an assuring squeeze.

Manyata turned to face Udayveer.

He grabbed her arm, he ushered her in his car. He hopped in the driver's seat.

"Udayveer dekho I dealt with it. He won't bother us anymore," she insisted.

She turned away from his angry face and noticed his knuckles were pale with their grip on the steering wheel. He drove quickly to a spot. She looked out and realized it was the beach she had recalled in one of her memories. Now it came clearly to her what their meeting here had been like. She stepped out of the car and started to walk towards the water. She stopped short and looked back at him. He stood on the rocks lost in thought. He was trying to compose himself.

He wanted to scream how much he loved her and how he just wanted them to live their lives to the fullest. He never wanted to hear or see Akash again. That scoundrel had tried to take Manyata from him even after he had discovered she was his since his childhood. No matter before he fell in love with her or after. Whatever was his should remain his.

He picked up a small stone and was about to throw it.

" You might hurt someone with that. I am the only one you can hit with one of those. I don't want another girl falling in love with you Yuvraj Udayveer Singh," she declared.

He smiled at her. She raised her eyebrows and smiled again. She walked up towards him.

He smiled as she came closer but then he noticed the figure a distance a way. She stopped short seeing his expression.

"Kya hua. I finally got you to smile now you are frowning," she pouted.

She noticed him looking past her at something. Manyata whirled around and was shocked to see the man she had confronted outside the restaurant walking away from the area.

" He didn't learn his lesson. I think I should go scream his ear drums off," she exclaimed.

She was about to go approach Akash when Udayveer pulled her back towards him.

"Hum Rajwade hain. We don't fight battles below us," he declared.

She nodded.

"Yes why ruin our mood because of that fool. Chalo, let's walk on the beach," she insisted.

He softened towards her and she put her arm through his. He smiled warmly and made sure she was close to him. After awhile, she let go and stepped forward, she must have stepped on a steep rock because before she knew it she had the dread in her chest. This feeling seemed familiar as if she had one of those heart dropping moments before in her life.

For Udayveer it reminded him of that awful day when he thought he had lost her.

"Manyata!," he yelled as he caught her in time.

Manyata sighed as she recalled something else .

"Uska mardo. Now no one can save him," a voice stated.

She was going to get help but then realized the danger was imminent. She could not leave him alone. They would kill him before she could return. She knew she had only one option.

She ran towards him as the goon's dhanda that was meant for him came crashing down.

He cradled her. This was nothing like that day. However it pained him to be in this position again. Her eyes fluttered open all of a sudden. She grips his collar.

" Tum theek to ho na?," she inquired.

" Hum theek hain Manyata lekin aap..," he trailed off.

" They were going to kill you," she stammered.

He looked at her startled.

" Thank God you are all right!," she exclaimed as he steadied her.

She stood up straight and grasped his hand.

"Ghar jane se pelhe mandir chalen?," she inquired.

He looked at her solemnly and agreed.

She would soon remember everything. He hoped even if she was upset with him for the past she wouldn't let her anger last too much into the near future.

Manyata felt at peace in the mandir. Udayveer too wanted to pray to God for what they still had and he hoped the blessing remained even after today.

He smiled at her as she folded her hands and shut her eyes closed quickly. He turned to face the murti. He prayed with all his might.

" Bhaghwanji, you have given me my Manyata back. Please guide her so she can remember everything soon and I hope she doesn't get too upset with me," he prayed.

"Bhagjwanji today you showed me another glimpse of my past. I know more than ever that I do love Udayveer very much. May we always be happy together. Please bless our families too,: she prayed.

They participated in aarti and took prasad with them as they were leaving. They made small talk as they headed over to the penthouse. She headed off to spend time with Unnati and he went to attend to some business errands he had left to do before the enagagement party that weekend.

Later that night, Manyata stepped into what Unnati had said was her bedroom with Udayveer when they stayed in Mumbai. She peered around. The room was cozy, somehow it didn't seem like more of his or hers. It seemed like their room.

Udayveer stepped up behind her and held her by the waist.

"Welcome to our room wifey," he declared.

"Jaane Pechana se lagra hai," she declared thoughtfully.

Udayveer smiled.

"You came and made this room ours. Before it shone with my choice, but this all together is ours," he stated.

She turned to face him and smiled.

He looked at her mischievously.

"Guess what my favorite pastime in here is?," he inquired.

She raised her eyebrows.

"Woh kya hai? Flirting with other girls when I am away?," she hissed.

He grabbed her and pulled her closer.

"Romancing my one and only wifey," he declared.

He leaned in and kissed her behind her ear. She blushed as he caressed her hair. She looked away and he cupped her chin. She wrapped her arms around him. She took the stool. He picked her up so she could stand on it. She leaned over and kissed his forehead and then his cheeks.

He lifted her off and she slid down and caressed the back of his head as her lips touched his.
