MM Reports: Shahid & Ranbir team up for Aankhen 2

Pahlaj Nihalani has decided to start off his sequel to the 1993 superhit by the end of this year

He had been toying with the idea of a sequel to his 1993 blockbuster Aankhen starring Govinda and Chunky Pandey. And finally, Pahlaj Nihalani has decided to go ahead with it. Interestingly, the filmmaker has decided to rope in Ranbir Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor in the lead roles.

The filmmaker confirmed the news and told Mumbai Mirror, "I have sounded off Ranbir for Aankhen 2 and I intend meeting Shahid very soon for the same. The only other thing that I can say at this point is that Aankhen 2 will be funnier than my original Aankhen."

And for this funnier Aankhen, Pahlaj, according to sources, has decided to have both his lead actors in double roles. The '93 version had only Govinda in a double role.

Though the exact roles of Shahid and Ranbir are still undecided, a source revealed that Pahlaj is busy working out the final script for the project and plans to take it on the floors by the end of this year.

"As soon as the script is ready, Pahlaj will make an official announcement. The director and the two girls are also still to be decided," added the source close to the project.

And while the young actors have been sounded off, the source told us that Govinda and Chunky Pandey might not be a part of the sequel.
