Hi Vista...I am glad I came upon this post. Marvellous one...based on the evergreen P&P😳. I have just read a mini version which doesnt contain the power packed dialogues betn Darcy and Lizzie...I think I should read it now.😆 I also never knew this show would go the P&P way..as they are discussing abt live-in..if tht happens this show is very different.😕

I am glad you warmed upto accepting Arnav becoming Darcy. being an indian show it will take a long time for them to come for a proposal. Kushi is a bit similar to lizzie but def more bubbly. I would be glad to see arnav getting darcified😆..how hopelessly darcy was in love😳...I would love to see kushi also as proud as Lizzie was..she should reject his proposal😆. I want ASR redeemed. To some extent he was redeemed yesterday after he came back twice for her. But still a long way to go .

After yesterdays argument I think its high time u make one more post of ur feelings regarding darcification...would love to read it.

@vistaa: thanks for this thread. I think this thread should be around as long as we spot the similarities in the stories. I am also a fan of PnP & Jane Austen. I've read it a couple of times and have also seen the 2005 movie starring Keira Knightley & Matthew Macfadyen. I hear the BBC version is even better.

I agree that ASR is in some way a Darcy but an extreme version, though I am not complaining. I probably wouldn't like a softer version to start with since Barun is doing a great job. Besides, past events in his life have moulded him into the man he is. Also since this is a Hindi TV serial, and will not wind up as fast as the novel, it is plausible that there will be some subplots and deviations.

Akash and Payal are perfect as Bingley and Jane, and Arnav will in all likelihood warn Akash, when he senses that he loves Payal. Lizzie and Darcy end up spending more time together when she's forced to look after Jane who falls sick. And here, Khushi visits RM to train Lavanya, resulting in more interaction with ARnav.

I wonder if there is a Mr. Collins in this story, the proposal Elizabeth rejects. And finally if a live-in track does not kick in and the show follows PnP in some manner, I would love to watch Arnav saying this (Darcy's proposal):

In vain I have struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.

I'm glad you had the link for this post in your latest post! Anything Darcy I have to read lol😃

From one Austen fan to another:
My first post on finding this show last december was that of Indian Mr.Rochester and Darcy. Darcy was never cruel but Rochester had his moments and ASR/Arnav has both. He goes into Rochester mode at times and Darcy mode at times!
For future along with Darcy/Lizzy passion and relationship dynamics I also see glimpses of Emma and Knightly in them. Khushi getting into everyone's business with good intention no doubt to help but always getting in trouble and him being more Knightly style.
No wonder I like this show because I see my favorite Austen and Bronte charatcer's in them. And as some other have mentioned he has Healthcliff qualities as we are witnessing it presently!
Will be interesting to watch the turn of events...

And the victorians come running out of the closets to find that a indian show is taking on darcification? By the way love the term darcification. Lovely discussion and for the first time I regret not being part of the forum when such threads were being made.
Really? Did you hear that this show was based on P and P? sigh...
Darcy,Rochester and Healthcliff are icons and I genuinely believe cannot be replicated in fiction in today's date.Gone are the good old days.
Oh how I wish this had turned out to be even 10% of what was discussed on this thread, the most important part in P and P is the proposal, it is the most amazing and original one I am sure, rest of the proposals in fiction are just a shade of it, Austen started it all. The best part is that Darcy genuinely changes and he does it for love not redemption. There is no redemption in love, its just love.
Rochester and Jane were equals always, I loved Jane's confidence and she was the one who was self made, she was the stronger one, this story is the most heart breaking one and their seperation truly tests their love.
Healthcliff, he is sadistic and cruel and his is love is equally violent. This is the most fascinating anti hero in literature. Emily Bronte and Wuthering heights will always be my favorite...morbid tendencies...
Arnav is none of the above, and yet a reflection of them, he is himself. Enough is said about him on the forum...I don't want to add to it, the reason he gets comapared to all the characters above is cause they were originals and rest of them all followed. I know this, his character was one of the best written in Indian TV in a while. What they have done to it and what will come in future does not matter right now at this moment. They started with ASR and turned him into Arnav. He is at the cusp now, he is finally become both and how he will resolve this and how they will take this forward will make or break this story. He will have to live them both together not diverged, but as one complete person.
The possiblities are immense. We will have to wait and watch.
What a wonderful post Vista. Its has been pleasure to read through this thread.
I really like your user name, Vista...I see hope...
