well i read your post in three parts for three days😆
well i completely agree with the P&P part.. but frankly indian shows are far too filled with drama to think of such striking similarities.. i guess
yes it is true that arnav has moved from thinking of khushi to thinking about khushi (i love that line you used there)..
and yeah i really think he just tortured her for the sake of satisfying his pride.. like he was insulted when he was outrighteosly questioned by khushi..
but now that his feelings for her have gone for a sixer i think khushi might not just invoke feelings from him but ALSO transform the person he already his.. like change him for good..
have you read JANE EYRE( by charlette bronte) (spellingz must b wrong😛).. though the leads there have a 20 year gap.. i feel it somehow has some resemblances there too.. the way Rochester CHANGES himself and is completely ready to do anything for her.. is where i see khushi and arnav going...

Oh Hermione 😉, thank you dear...though I certainly hope my post was not so boring that you had to bring yourself to read it over three days😉😆😆
@Bold red: Absolutely...she has begun to change him...remember how she got after La and Co, for calling her Chamkilee? ASR of the yore would have cared less...but you are right...he has miles to go...reminds me of a Urdu couplet, done to death in many cases, but really apt here...
"Ibtida-e-ishq hai, rota hai kya?
Aage aage dekhiye, hota hai kya..." 😊
crudely translated as "'Tis just the beginning of love, and you're crying...wait to see what Love has in store..."
Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre ...you are so right ...Jane, with the healing touch of her love, does bring all of Rochester's demons in control...but then he has a psychotic wife hidden in the tower, literally and figuratively...but you are right...Jane's absolute morality can be seen in traces in Khushi's character...such that we have been witness to, till date...her absolute honesty and artlessness and conviction.
Thanks for sharing your views😊

Sorry for the late reply, 😳 and huge thanks for posting your take.😊...but I am curious to know why you would consider Darcification a tragedy? Granted Arnav is a self-made man (though if we are talking classes here, then technically he is manor born too...just that his inheritance was snatched away by evil relatives), and his ruthlessness and coldness has aided him in reaching wherever he is right now, but that is not to say there is no room for tender emotions in his life at all...I would argue that all the more reason for him to find true love...the kind a completely artless, honest, beautiful girl like Khushi can provide.
@Bold:You make a great point there...up until now, his sister has been the epitome of all that is good and fine in this world...and here comes our Jalebi Girl, ready to question all his notions and turn them on their collective heads😆

Vista- simply put- Darcy is also a man of his times- however much he may dislike someone, he will give a polite but firm cut- like the way he does at the local ball and refuses to dance with any lady even when requested by the master of ceremonies. His social manners are inbred and however much he would like to scream and run, he will not! But not ASR- he has the advantage of being rude and aggressive and be ok with it- no social censor. Darcification in the current age would make him almost look like a dandy- it would be unpardonable for him to become socially "sophisticated" overnight.

What can happen is showing the anger and rudeness of ASR being slowly eroded away by Kushi's sweetness- it will be more of the Taming of the "Shrew"- in reverse- but sweet as Kushi is unaware of "changing" ASR. I also see Anjali as a catalyst in this drama and ASR realizing how similar and yet unique Kushi is wrt Anjali- the only person he simply adores/ respects/ deifies right now.

i must have missed this earlier... but i discussed this with a friend after i started watching the show sometimes last month... and i think i see a lot of p&p in the show but it is of course more dramatized... more cynical... more extreme...

arnav is not only proud but hot headed as well, he takes his revenge from his uncle or family by buying his house back but planning to build a factory there... there s no close friend like bingley but akash and payal are very similar to bingley and jane

arnav's very protective of his sister, though she is older rather than younger... anjali's life will be affected by the same person who will try to gain khushi's affections... the scoundrel wickham

the bitchy bingley sisters are replaced by lavanya and a little bit of mami...

of course all the other stuff is to prolong the drama and interest the audience... sadly p&p versions for the desi audience havent done too well

loved the dialogue between khushi and arnav today.. hope we get more of it in the coming episodes, as good as barun does the sexy no blink staring into khushi to rabba ve... i love their dialogues

also hope we keep seeing more of darcy in arnav... he will be reformed by her love 😃

Agree with all your points...I had resisted the idea quite forcefully when I came to know about the intial khabar that this was based on P&P...primarily because I could not reconcile the cruel, almost satanic ASR to the hopelessly in love, ham handed Mr. Darcy (pre-proposal, of course). Could not bear to see my beloved Mr. Darcy reduced to this hot headed, belligerent, rude ASR.😆
I could of course, see the other similarities. Eventually, I warmed to the idea and then made this post😃
In some respects, Nani reminds me of Lady Catherine, vis-a-vis Arnav. For Khushi of course, that role is played by Mamiji.
In the days of Doordarshan, a credible adaptation of P&P was done in Hindi and it was called Trishna. For the most part, it stayed true to the book and was directed by a woman, so retained much of the sensibility of the book.
@fj and sun: Happy to see another couple of fans of P&P😊
