Aishwarya Rai has appeared in public with Beti B for the first time since bringing the little one home from the hospital a few days after her birth. NDTV has obtained exclusive footage of Aishwarya exiting Seven Hills Hospital today, where she and Beti B were visiting Amitabh Bachchan as he recovers from abdominal surgery.
Aishwarya (and the rest of the Bachchan family) have been incredibly secretive about Beti B, to the extent that they have refused to tell the public the child's name or release a photo of her. The secrecy has resulted in some rather cruel rumors about the baby, such as speculation that Beti B might have a birth defect which the Bachchans find embarrassing.
Aishwarya Rai has only just started to make public appearances, showing up at the wedding reception of Genelia d'Souza and Ritesh Deshmukh, who has a close friendship with Aishwarya's husband Abhishek Bachchan. Her appearance at the reception drew criticism, mostly related to her weight.
With as much as the Bachchans seem to desire privacy when it comes to Beti B, you'd think that Aishwarya would leave the child at home when she left to visit Amitabh at the hospital. But, as Amitabh tweeted today, "The cheer and smiles come over the face only when the 'little one' visits .. most effective antidote for pain." Aishwarya must have realized how much joy Amitabh feels when he sees his granddaughter, and so she took the risk of being photographed when entering and exiting the hospital.
