On the face of it Ahem seems to be missing the point on what was blatantly obvious, the opportunity to make up and strengthen his relationship or the chance to reduce the discomfort with Gopi, but was it?
Ahem did broach the conversation calmly and spoke softly to enable her to speak without inhibitions. He ensured that he said the right words at the right time but kept a poker face throughout his conversation only to observe her carefully while he played out his tease, by asking her 'why can't Jigar gift Rashi bangles?' He was so tuned in to know every reaction of hers, especially when he stated whom the second pair of bangles were for. What gave his game away was his reaction on hearing that the second pair of bangles will be delayed.
Ahem is a great player of games and at keeping the other person at bay. It comes from his long relationship with his mother in not telling her everything but telling her enough to keep her fine. He knows that Gopi called him only because of making Rashi happy with the intention of helping them to get closer. He has shown that he is on her side with this as at the party he told Jigar to sit with them at their table, particularly to sit in the available seat next to Rashi.
At the same time, Ahem has made himself conscious of keeping her comfortable and smiling. With this awkwardness they have endured after the kiss he now feels that they are in a better place. He shown this through maintaining that they were together side by side thereafter - leaving the kitchen, coming down the stairs and at the party.
The party is not over yet. We could be in for more surprises. Let's indulge in Ahem's game for now as things are up in the air.
