Seriously people! Looks like we're all just out to criticize absolutely anything. Its a cooking contest, not story telling. And challenges decide who stays - it wasn't his day. Rajendra was my fav but it was an innovation test!! His dish lacked any form of innovation and the other two were clearly better in this challenge.

I agree... his show is about the cooking... the hardship stories are incidental...

Found this article published a day before Rajendra was eliminated. His elimination could be pre-planned oratory skills are required from the winner of MCI which Rajendra lacked.

Puneet on masterchef

Puneet Mehta, an event manager from Hyderabad who was eliminated from MasterChef India two weeks ago, admits he wouldn't have lasted more than his stay on the show because the competition was getting tough. "My elimination didn't come as a big surprise not because my culinary skills are weak but my competitors were stronger than me," he says. The show is left with five contestants and the finale will take place on January 1. So, who in his opinion would walk away with MasteChef title? "It's difficult to say because two more eliminations are yet to happen," he says cautiously. Elaborating further he adds, "Apart from cooking skills, withstanding pressure, knowledge about food and presentation skills, what is also important is confidence and ability to speak well. The winner has to have certain leadership qualities because s/he will later host his/her own show." He refuses to take a guess on the winning candidate.

However, according to an informed source, the winner could be anyone between Vijay Laxmi, Shipra, Shazia and Joseph. "If it is a male this time then it has to be Joseph because Rajendra (Mane) is not a confident speaker. He also has a speech problem," says the source. But if MasterChef title goes to a female again this time then it has to be Vijay Laxmi, Shipra or Shazia.

That says it.. I also thought since he is not presentable. he can not be the winner.. However, why take him in the show in the first place then? And then also.. give a fair reason to eliminate him.. saying the exact reason.. eliminating him on his cooking skill is bad.. Shipra, Shazia, Joseph being a better cook than him is the biggest joke.. He would feel much better if he was said that his speaking issue and presentability is the reason for elimination..
And those who are saying it was his bad day.. we are just going by what they show us!! If they want to eliminate someone, they will find 100 faults with one's dish and hide another 100 from another.. innovaion is such a subjective word.. this can be easily abused and this has definitely been abused by the judges.. Just do not call it a fair elimination..

i saw the epi and i feel it was abs correct decison. in an innovation test you are supposed to innovate, he simply copied everything to perfection, and why should his past be the deciding factor, i feel it was perfect, when he cld win on sushi as innovation it means he has the capablity just he ddnt have the presence of mind required at that moment.
truly justifed elimination. laxmis dish also ddnt look good comapred ot other two.

first - the contestant does not sell the story, it is the channel that decides to sell
second - even if he had a story, it was less attractive than the story of a sass-bahu love story and a story of a helpless woman fighting for her daughter.. so a less powerful story lost..

i dont know about sob stories but it seems every person has a sob story, in the indian masterchef. i love it when in international master ches you are given cash only for food related goals, not ot make a home, pay loan etc.
rajan wants to win as it is for his family, laxmi wants to win coz of her kid, where is for thelove of food? joesph shazia and shipra feel this is ther profession and i love that fact!!
on the other hand rajan lost as he was the least impressive, there was abs no innovation, if it was my vote, i woould have elminated him before laxmi simply as she did innovate which was the real task, laxmi should be the top 4 not rajan, it was coz of his prev preformance and sob story that 4th bhi mili, warna task mei tou fail hugya, baha hota to disqualify hujata!!

and where do you get this fact? How many times Shipra has said- she wants to win this because that is the only way to get back her daughter.. You never heard it?? When did Shahzia say it is her profession?? How many times she has said she wants it as a gift to ger mother in law who taught her how to cook and loves her so much??
Except Joseph -- none of them mentioned cooking as their profession..
