Rushi Dandyayan and his Bhavishyavani
The sage Dandayan was a unique character, a Hath yogi (determined practitioner of the yogic exercises) but was also very well versed in the Meta physical lore.
The sage was endowed with clairvoyance and his predictions never went wrong.
Chanakya was aware that his journey to Patliputra was fraught with dangers that reaching there, let alone returning safely were doubtful.
Passing through the jungles teeming with violent beasts, dacoits and demons posed a threat to one's life.
But Dandayan had assured him: "you shall return, Chanakya, as the coming events have a very vital role reserved for you. You shall also come back, not alone, but with the material shape of a dream that you always cherished."
And touching the feet of great sage, Chanakya returned to pack his things for the journey. He wanted to ask the sage whether he would meet his mother or not, but he couldn't. He shuddered to think of getting an answer in the negative.
Chanakya had hardened his self and was prepared for the worst. But like the coconut fruit his hardened and rough-tough outer covering had a really soft kernel, which he preserved from a callous, insensitive world.
Returning home for his final preparation of the journey, he was mulling about the items that he should carry with him.
The great treasure of ancient manuscripts and scrolls which he received from his mentor were his priced possession but they were a bulky lot. They couldn't be carried along.
He wasn't sure of his return too. So ultimately he thought a solution.
He called Sinharan and Mehir and asked them to stay in the house and look after his possessions in his absence.
"If all goes well, I hope to be back here by the same month next year. And till I come back take care of these as the most priced possessions of your life," Chanakya instructed them.
