Rishab Shetty raises eyebrows by avoiding question regarding Rashmika Mandanna & Vijay Deverakonda’s marriage

There's been a buzz about actors Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, who reportedly got married in Udaipur on Thursday morning, February 26th. The ceremony was said to be a private affair, with only close friends and family present. Actor-filmmaker Rishab Shetty, who directed Rashmika's debut Kannada film Kirik Party, was asked about the wedding but chose not to comment.

Rishab Shetty ignores question about Rashmika & Vijay’s wedding

Rishab Shetty participated in the concluding day of the Sri Raghavendra Guruvaibhavotsava at Mantralayam following the launch of his upcoming film, Jai Hanuman, which is directed by Prashanth Varma. During a press interaction, he expressed his happiness about being there and addressed questions about his darshan, Jai Hanuman, and other related topics.

When questioned about whether he, like Rakshit Shetty, Rashmika's ex-fiancé and a close friend, would pursue devotional films, Rishab responded that they are all artists, and it's the roles and opportunities that guide their choices. Later, when a reporter asked if he had received an invitation to Rashmika Mandanna's wedding, Rishab, who had been patiently answering questions, smiled, said "Thank you," and left the scene.

Rashmika’s past

For context, Rashmika got engaged to Rakshit in 2017, but they ended their engagement in 2018. In 2023, Rashmika referred to her ex's production house as a 'so-called production house' using air quotes. Rishab appeared to respond to this indirectly, stating, "Aur mujhe 'iss' type ki actress (These types of actresses), I don’t like them. I prefer working with newcomers as they come with no barriers, also using air quotes.

Pramod Shetty, another friend of Rakshit and a collaborator on Kirik Party, was asked about the wedding. He stated, “I haven't received Rashmika's wedding invitation yet. If I get it, I'll go. We know she won’t invite us, nothing new. As for Rakshit Shetty, he’s not a kid eating chocolate and sitting around feeling guilty about it. His comments drew criticism from Rashmika's fans, who labeled them as "cheap.

Vijay and Rashmika’s wedding

On Monday, Vijay and Rashmika, after announcing their wedding on Sunday, arrived in Udaipur with friends. The celebrations included a "Virosh Premier League" and pool games on Tuesday, followed by a sangeet. Haldi and mehendi ceremonies took place on Wednesday. The couple married at 10:10 AM on Thursday, with the ceremony starting at 8 AM. Attendees included Tharun Bhascker, Rahul Ravindran, Eesha Rebba, Ashika Ranganath, Kalyani Priyadarshan, and Shravya Varma. Wedding pictures have yet to be released.
