Hi everyone 😊 So I read a few one shots and I got bored doing work so I opened a word doc and just started typing, I really didnt have a story lined up so I just talked about what I felt Khushi and Arnav were thinking as the episode on Friday ended, its just a bit of a read for anyone that is having weekend withdrawal symptoms. Hope you like it, I'm really tired, and not very creative so its probably horrible but hey, better than nothing right. If you have any thoughts, please do share 😊
Friday 23rd Sept :

Khushi sat on the edge of her fathers bed. This man, this wonderful man had taken her in, and never treated her any differently than he would have his own flesh and blood. She watched him tell his story, face alive with expression, always calm, always in control, she admired him for it. She loved him dearly, and as much as she tried to focus on what he was telling her; that he was fine, it was only a mild heart attack, the doctors didn't say he was at risk, she couldn't help but think about how angry she was that nobody had told her. She was nothing but a single phone call away, what had stopped them from calling? If Payal, Buaji and her mother had been too preoccupied with his safety, what was cool headed Shyam doing, she always thought he was good in a crisis, she would have to ask him about it later. No, she wasn't letting it go, this was her father they were talking about, no one was getting off that easy.

For once in her life she felt pleased that that Laad governer had lost his temper again, or she would have still been at the mansion, taking part in festivities to remember their departed, when she had very nearly just lost one of her own. And for once, she didn't feel angry or upset or dejected that he has lost it with her again. She understood, she knew exactly what it felt like. To lose someone you love, and know that you can never see them again. Never talk to them when you feel alone, never see them smile at the small joys in life, she had missed out on her real parents, but she had got a new family, a loving family. Her Jiji kept her sane, showered her with so much love that she hardly felt any absence. For the absence was horrid. She never in a million years would wish it upon anyone, loneliness, an empty abyss of shadows, darkness and nothing else. Is that what he felt like? She wondered. No, it maybe worse for him, but he had his Di. He was not all alone. The thought brought a sudden cheeriness to her eyes, what she had lost since she had found out that his parents had passed away that day. She clenched her fists at the thought, Khushi, always loud mouthed, always landing herself in trouble. She didn't mean to be too nosy or get involved in their personal matters. She had just sort of let the comment slip, unaware of the angry eyes staring at her from behind. She felt like she deserved the rest of it. He was never ready to listen to anyone, always angry. She never wanted to get involved, but Nani asked her to, she couldn't have said no, could she? And then he asked her to leave, just like that, get out, he didn't even let her spe...

"Khushi?, child, are you allright?"

She looked up to find the weary old man in front of her looking anxious, cautious almost. He laid his hand on her shoulder and she bolted awake from her daze.

"Yes Babuji!, my heart is happy, and fine, one day all those Jalebis will take effect and my heart might have problems, but today I'm not the one who just suffered from a heart attack, now would you like me to steal some sweets in for you when Amma isn't looking" she raised her eyebrows cheekily at him, and the smirk that fell upon his face reminded her of a not so different one she had seen upon another face, a much younger, very handsome face just a few days ago.

Why does every thought lead me back to him?

Why does every thought lead me back to her?

He sat on a white covered mattress on the floor next to his sister who was expelling a nervous aura due to the absence of her husband. He might have been more aware of it if he hadn't of been lost in thought of her. He had done it again, yelled at her, said things he shouldn't have and then let his ego get in the way of apologising. No, it wasn't his fault, how could he have known? Well, if he had just let her speak. Why, always her, why do I feel, for the first time ever, remorse when I do something that I have been doing for years. I am Arnav Singh Raizada. Business tycoon, I can yell at workers in my home if I please. But she was not just any old worker, he knew that deep inside, but he blocked that thought out, his ego and defence wall getting in the way. It would be different this time though, he would wait for her to come in the morning and he would apologise, maybe she would be back the same day, knowing how interfering she was. Even when he wanted her out of his life, she always seemed to find her way back to him. Surprisingly, he realised that despite what he showed, he didn't really mind all that much. She was always falling back to him, literally. He smiled at the thought, but realised what he was doing and retracted it before it had even reached his eyes. What is this girl doing to me? No, she is just clumsy, and nosy, and very energetic so I can't help but think of her, there is nothing more, nothing more at all. He felt himself having an internal argument over it. What exactly was his relationship with her, should he even apologise, did he need to, what if she had forgotten. No, he had really messed up big this time, he would say sorry even if it killed him. He watched the fire in front of him as he contemplated, flashes of the red and orange in the flame reminding him of colours. Colours that complimented her skin and made her glow. Colours of her scarf, that he frequently found obstructing his vision. Colours of her cheeks as she flushed when he would shout at her. Colours of the metals she wore around her ears and in her hair. Colours that he loved.

Hi everyone :) This is an OS following the episode on Monday 26th Sept. Hope its a good read. Thank you for all your lovely comments so far x

She walked in through the front door as Jai Prakash opened it and stood out of the way. It had been a while since she had started working at the Raizada mansion and yet she stood still, in awe of the hall, bright lights adding to a probably infinitely high electricity bill and an area so big she could fit her house into it, twice.

"Khushi Ma'am, Lavanya Madam has asked you to go on upstairs, but I think she will be down soon so can wait for her where you like"

"Thank you Jai Prakash"

She started walking slowly down the main corridor, taking in her surroundings. It wasn't her home, but she felt safe there. Protected, somehow, hidden from the world. Standing inside that house made her forget that she was in Delhi, forget about all the dust and fumes, all the bad things that happened at night in the streets outside. It was late, normally, had she been away from home at a time like this, she would have worried. How would she get home, would she be safe, were her family worried. But she didn't think of those things today, and she was sure her family didn't either. She trusted them, trusted him. She knew how reckless he was, sending her into a falling building, leaving her out on the street to get home alone but yet she trusted him. Perhaps it was reckless for her to do so, but she felt it nonetheless. Feeling embarrassed at thinking so she looked down at her feet, why was she thinking of things like that. It was her job, she had come because she had taken the day off, and now Lavanya said that she had needed her. Lavanya was her friend, she thought, as she watched her pink and gold dress sway with every step she took. She was also his girlfriend. Was she though? Girlfriend, fiance? The thought made her shudder and she continued walking, staring at her feet and the marble beneath them.

Arnav had tried to get her out of his mind all day, he was frustrated to say the least. He couldn't help himself from speaking out at the dinner table and now he regretted it because he had felt everybody's eyes looking at him, their gaze searing through his skin, tearing away at that protective barrier he had spent years on building. It didn't help that he had Lavanya fluttering around asking questions, questions that he did not care for. Party, no party, Pam and Sim, lunchdates, he cared not for a single one of those. He told himself he was happy she was going so he could lie down for a while and rest his head, but he knew somewhere in his mind, that all he wanted was alone time so that he could think about her.

"..Khushi.."

He was almost about to close the door, he had been so close to escape, and he had heard it.

"Khushi?" he exclaimed voice low and controlled, but full of anxiety and emotion.

"Khushi has come today?" he asked.

"Yes" she turned around as she spoke "she is coming with me to the party" her face alight with excitement, quite the opposite from his "I'm just going to go get my bag and then I'll be off, atleast I got someone to go with m.." she stopped, addressing the concern on his face with a light touch on his shoulder with her hand "AS.. I mean Arnavji" she smiled at her own mistake "are you okay?"

"I am fine" he shuddered, irritated by her sudden touch when he had been so lost in thought. He brushed her hand away and started walking towards the stairs that would lead him downstairs, to her as Lavanya turned in the other direction to grab a few necessities from her room.

He had been too rash to leave because he had not practiced what to say, that thought didn't hit him till he started walking down the stairs and he saw her. She was looking down at her feet and shifting slightly more than usual as she walked, watching her dress mimic her motion. Her cheeks had gone a lovely shade of pink that matched her dress so beautifully, he could not take his eyes off of her, he could not move, he forgot where he was; he forgot what he was supposed to say, what he was supposed to act like. He just stood there, on the second step from the top, watching her slowly close the gap between them that felt too large.

Moments passed, if you had asked him how long, he would not have been able to answer you.

Just when he thought his knees would give away she looked up and he found himself gazing into beautiful brown orbs, he felt like they were the centre of his world, what did she see when she looked at him...

She stopped dead in her tracks, slightly dishevelled by the man standing on the steps before her. She had felt like someone was watching her, and as she looked up she found his eyes. Before long, he had looked away. He looked different somehow, she thought. As handsome as ever, in a green top, that made him stand out from his surroundings, but it wasn't his physical appearance that had bothered her, no, she didn't think it ever could, but it was what she felt she saw beneath everything, beneath his immaculate facade that had her skin prickling all over. He looked back at her and she felt a shiver run down her spine. They stood like that for a while; Khushi was transfixed, unable to move for the life of her, which is why her face registered a hint of surprise when she saw him move. What was happening? She was staring into his almond shaped eyes, and knew that she had to move her eyes to keep them fixed on him. But she did not know what he was doing. Walking felt like something so far away, so impossible, that she did not understand why he was not standing still.

Babbling, babbling was how she would describe the voice she heard. Her ears were picking up some sort of unreadable noise that was getting in the way. She wanted it to stop, what was that? Why wasn't it stopping?

The hand that touched her forearm sent her jumping about a mile out of her skin. She looked to her left to see Lavanya clutching at her arm.

"Hello, hello, Khushi? Are you listening? Come on, I know we want to be fashionably late but too late isn't good either, I don't want people thinking it takes me very long to look this good" Khushi glanced behind Lavanya's shoulder to find that Arnav had reached the bottom the stairs and he was now standing still and staring at her. Was that remorse she saw in his eyes? No, it couldn't b...

"KHUSHI?"

"Y..y..ess Lavanyaa ji" she managed to stammer.

"I asked, how fabulous am I looking in this dress?" she posed, arm on hips, pout and smirk plastered across her face.

"I..its beautiful, very nice" she twirled around "a bit short at the back maybe I don't know if" as Lavanya finished her twirl with a smile that could win over the nation Khushi sighed "You look great" she could let her off tonight. Anyway, as long as Arnav didn't mind what she wore, why would it matter to Khushi.

"Allright! Let's go!" Lavanya turned swiftly and began her walk down the corridor, adjusting he bag around her arm as she did and Khushi followed suit, not before sneaking in a glance towards the man that stood still as a statue at the foot of the stairs. It hadn't left her mind that he had been standing as still as stone, unblinking, unwavering, looking right into her.

What was he doing? He watched as she spoke to Lavanya, and it wasn't until she had finally turned her back and started walking towards the door that he had remembered what he had come to do. Khushi was here, he was shocked, but glad that he had the opportunity. He needed to apologise, the better the quicker, less damage done that way right?

"WAIT" he said, not sure if his voice was loud enough. Both girls stopped dead in their tracks. Oh no, they were about to turn around, what was he going to do. He had not thought this through, he knew that once she turned around, and he saw her eyes again, he would not be able to get out the words he needed to say. He was not ready, all that practicing in the bathroom was no match for the sparkling eyes of Miss Khushi Kumari Gupta. He cursed under his breath, silently using every rude word he could possibly think of and finally spoke up just as the two people in the corridor rounded up to face him.

"I'm coming with you"
