The Rat Trap
On the terrace, as Daksh comes in search of Naina, he finds Sonakshi, and instead of speaking to Naina, Sonakshi takes the center stage, and with all the histrionics, she tries to sweep Daksh off his feet, but the lawyer is firmly on the ground and seems to play up the game of Sonakshi, and makes her believe that he has bought her story. Sonakshi wishes to spend some time alone, so Daksh and Naina leave her and go to their rooms.
On the way, Daksh asks if she is feeling fine, and she tells him that there is nothing to worry, and she wishes him good night and each one goes into their respective rooms.
Naina enters her room, and gets the bed sheets in order, and puts things in place. A pillow falls on the floor, and when she is trying to pick it up she notices ants crawling everywhere, and she finds they are clustered round the stain on the floor. She wonders, why the ants are attracted to the rat poison. She bends down, and touches the stain with her finger, and then lifts it to her nose to smell it. She has caught the real rat, but she wants to make sure. She puts two and two together, and remembers what Daksh had said about Sonakshi, and comes to realize that what he was saying was true, and the "cat" goes on the prowl. She wants to find the rat poison bottle, and she goes to search in the waste basket, but finds it not there. Then she goes to the store room, after searching all the drawers, to find if she has hidden it over there. She takes out her suitcase, and after groping in it, discovers the bottle, and takes it away with her.
On the terrace, the other "rat", Rohini crawls to meet the visiting "rat" and they conspire. Rohini wants to take the credit, that Sonakshi's plan was hatched by her, and she praises the visiting "rat", about her acting abilities. She proudly presents herself as a versatile actress, and tells Rohini, that Vibha was swayed by her act, and when she rushed to Daksh, he too did not realize that she was putting on an act. Both rats, congratulate each other, and then, as they walk down, Rohini tells Sonakshi why she hates Naina. She recounts, how her career was destroyed by her, and her boss came to know that she had hidden the news of her pregnancy. She had lost her promotion, and then, she tells about the Madhura story. Wonder if rats know anything about themselves, or it is only the scientists who use them as guinea pigs for their experiments. Here is a new Scientist in Naina, who shifts her avatars from science to a feline. The "cat" hears the rats, as they are approaching her room, and she becomes alerted, and suddenly she becomes a host to the visiting rat, and gently puts her to bed and covers her with a blanket, and tells her to take rest, as it is getting late. She tells her that she has to finish some important work in the office, and she will come later and go to bed. Sonakshi goes to sleep, with the impression, that she had a good day. She has promised Daksh to tell his mother everything about them, next morning, but can the rats resist the bait?
Naina, is in her office, calling the laboratory, and she wants to take the bottles for a test. She finds her mobile with many missed calls from Daksh, and then she decides not to tell him about her discovery, till she makes sure, that the information she has is correct. Daksh comes over, and questions her, but she acts as if she is unaware of his anxiety. He talks sweetly to her, and they leave for home.
The new day dawns, as the sun rises in the east and the house is abuzz. Kaka is reading a newspaper, and Shyamal is counting money, and he tells her to attend to house work, and all she is bothered is to go out with her sister in law, for shopping. She tells him, that it is necessary, as very little time is left. She tells that she takes care of the house, and they have two pregnant people in the house that need care, and they have Sonakshi too, who needs attention. The Kaka gets wild when Sonakshi's name is uttered, and he tells her to keep her out of the conversation. Shyamal tells him, that she has prepared the tea and also the breakfast and lunch. To have it when he feels hungry, and she leaves with Vibha, who has come dressed up and ready to go.
Naina with her bag hanging on her shoulders, is also planning to go out, and Ayee full of concern for the three sick women, Akruti, Rohini and Sonakshi tells her to stay at home to look after them. Naina accepts her wishes, and stays back, and Daksh offers to drop the the two older women at the market. As they are discussing about their going out, the two "rats" are standing in a corner and listening, and meditating on how to go about their scavenging in the house. When the older women have left with Daksh, Sonakshi comes to Naina, and asks if she has seen Ayee, - as if she had not seen her going out - and Naina confirms that she has left. Sonakshi tries to convince the Cat, that she means no harm, and she will tell her when she returns from her shopping. The Cat pretends that she does not know that she is a Rat. Just then, they hear the buzzer ring from the bedroom above, from Rohini's room. Sonakshi the crippled girl, volunteers to go up and see what she needs, but the Cat spares the Rat, the wasteful energy, and tells her to relax, and take care of herself. She goes up to see what the other Rat wants.
In the pre-cap: Rohini the Rat, is grinning, and Akruti is also around. Naina does not understand what is going on, as things happen quickly. The Rat must have spilt some water, on which Akruti slips and falls, and Naina rushes to her side to help her.
