What kind of investments have you done till date?
I have made quite a few investments. I have invested in a firm for my daughter too. We have also invested in a PPF. Since childhood, I have had a habit of maintaining a piggy bank, and now I have passed it on to my daughter. So that she understands the value of money, whether its one buck or hundred rupees.
Have you ever thought of investing in stocks?
No, I don't really think that I have the kind of brain which is required to invest in stocks. And I never indulge in speculative investments.
Who looks after your finances?
Its mostly my C.A, who handles everything. I am under constant guidance of my father and father in law.
Do you plan your life financially?
Yes certainly! I have always maintained a diary, in which I write about my expenditures, rather my house expenditures and I have also told my staff to maintain that. And after every 15 days I check it.

Have you ever invested in real estate?
No, but Mihir and I are wanting to buy a land outside Mumbai, some where on the outskirts, for holiday purpose. Other than that, a house in Mumbai definitely tops our list, for which I am working really hard. And it should materialize in two months.
Where does most of your income go?
It definitely goes in clothes and also books. I am a complete book lover.
Are you an impulsive buyer?
Well, yes, its kind of difficult to curb me when it comes to spending money. But on the other hand I am a very focused buyer. If I want something I will work hard towards it.
So approximately how much do you end up spending on yourself, by the end of the month?
Well, I don't have anything fixed. And sometimes I don't spend a penny on myself. There have been times when I spend 15k at one go and sometimes not even five bucks on myself.
What's your take on insurance policies?
I personally believe in LIC polices a lot. I have heard a lot against these, but I will vouch for them.
" I believe in paying the amount upfront, than loans"- Maninee |
Do you own a car? Is it on loan?
Yes I own two cars, Skoda and Palio, and both are on loan. And now we are planning to buy a third car. But on a serious note, I don't really like taking loans. It really pisses me off at times when people call me up and ask for the installments, it kind of hurts my self respect. I believe in paying upfront! Now, if we plan to buy something, we will first see if we can afford it, otherwise we will drop the idea of purchasing it.
Any other thing which you are very particular about when it comes to your finances?
Yes, its a piece of advice to all, especially actors. Keep all your papers in place. Many a times when they are needed, actors give a lame excuse of their carelessness because of their profession and the hectic schedules. One needs to keep their bills, tax returns in place.
How much money do you carry on an every day basis?
Well, there is nothing fixed. I think that while shooting, one should not carry much as money can always get picked up. And otherwise, during shoots, there's not much expenses expected. I carry around 500 bucks and I always have my credit cards with me.
