Gulaal's moments of attraction...

As Kesar rightly pointed out, Gulaal is killing the woman inside her but there have been moments where we've seen her desires rippling under the surface. Most of us would agree that there is some pull from Gulaal's side too even if it is on the subconscious level. Gulaal and Kesar truly define the concept of 'soul mates' which is why I personally always felt that Gulaal does crave for Kesar too. The layered narrative allow us to interpret scenes in different ways and I think one of the biggest revelations was when Kesar barged in to Gulaal's room drunk. The tension was palpable and I think this was the first time where I thought Gulaal was drawn in emotionally and physically towards Kesar. In fact her behaviour changed remarkably from this moment onwards for many reasons...

Recently the earring scene, fall and grab, finger touching...I think they're all beginning to show her attraction towards him and to be honest it's about time because she's not facing any pressure to fall in love with him. It's just happening...!

The scattered imlis and the scene where Talli comes in wearing the chunar didn't involve Kesar physically but there was sense of possessiveness and desire in these scenes. I think its AMAZING how the writers have been able to include these subtle hints from Gulaal's side. It just emphasizes how these two are meant to be without them even realizing.
P.S. I hate how boring the weekends are without the show hence I made the topic.

@reemz

Good you made this post. This was the exact thing going on in my mind especially after the finger touching moment..
I was thinking like why would Gulaal feel awkward in such circumstances unless kesar really affects her..
if there was no feeling towards kesar she should not get that conscious by mere touch of kesar..is it not ???

So yes as you said...she is already feeling it ..and will fall big time for Kesar...

thanks again for your meaningful interpretations of the scenes...

Reemz, completely agree on the earrings and chunnar scenes. When Talli had walked in wearing the chunnar, Gulaal was definitely not happy. At first I thought it might be because she was afraid that Kesar was going to get angry about Talli wearing the chunnar etc etc etc BUT the scene where Talli walks out and Gulaal is left gazing after her...I could see a sense of possessiveness in her expressions!!

I felt the same about the earrings as well. She assumed that Kesar was buying those for her (and I am pretty sure he did buy them for her). However, Kesar knows Gul too well and when he figured that she was going to admonish him...he quickly admitted that he was looking at them for Reva...Gulaal should have looked relieved and happy but she did not. There was a hint of disappointment. Gulaal might not realize it now but she can be just as possessive and protective about Kesar.

I cannot wait for tomorrow's episode!!

Lovely post as usual on KG and on Gulaal's attraction

I do see it ( and i am gonna say its a Pull), esp these scenes are suppose to portray that so subtly, underlying its there and i remember you did say it about the Pareshani scene, she was pulled by it all - they were so close, the way Kesar grabbed her and so on
I think subconsciously we can say its an attraction - a pull, but obviously while we look at the scenes, we see Gulaal get tensed, awkward and so on
I did say quite a few times after last monday's episode and throughout the week lol, as this is what i meant by letting it happen naturally (and the woman slowly ans subtly emerge in her firstly)..., this is what is needed to let her feelings and so on develop naturally and remove her from being bounded to DV in a way (no force, no pressure, and no burden - but very much aware that Kesar loves her) and finally getting to a starting point (as we see the friendship phase) with her and Kesar which was needed by letting as you say its the just happening..., and by doing that the woman in her will come out, we will have to see hints of that in certain scenes in a way so far - and what Kesar said to her last monday will have to come into play, it was more about feeling those 'woman within' things - needs, love, support, and desires then Gulaal realising what Kesar was saying esp at this moment
Earring, slip and fall, cupboard touch - well its more of Gulaal being conscious esp when its physical awareness and the last two have been that
And well what can we say about Kesar, he is something else altogether, he is what we all wanted him to be... that love shining through and wanting to bring her happiness, makes him happy
Soulmates they are and i think what made me finally say Soulmates is probably the scene few weeks ago, when Kesar lets out a huge scream of her name, and she stirs in her sleep, and so on
The writers of this show have been amazing, so delicate in their approach, such subtleness to everything, but also so much to be felt - and that comes across on-screen so well - kudos to the actors Manasi and Neil

Yes I thought the same too. She took her hand away almost instantly! She is comfortable with him otherwise, while talking to him etc. but some awkwardness creeps up when there is any physical intimacy.

Yup! Her expressions when Talli walked away wearing the chunar were something else! It wasn't about the fear of Kesar finding out, it was more about something precious going away from her.

The earring scene I do try to fathom even now. Maybe there was disappointment involved or was it that she still knew the earrings are for her most probably!?

Ofcourse it's to do with Gulaal being aware of Kesar being close physically but it's not just that. As you said, it's a pull she has towards him. Today they are in a position where they don't need to feel conscious of each other in practical terms because they both know they are going their separate ways after 3 months. So that pressure is lifted off them...! This is just the beginning from Gulaal's POV anyway.

I agree with your post, and I just want to thank you for posting this clip. I have not watched previous episodes of Gulaal. I started to watch from early/mid-June, I think, to know about all the hoopla over Kesar (and Gulaal; before that it was just another rural show). So I have missed a lot of what is not shown in flashbacks. This clip just reinforces my love for this show, and the lovely characters, talented actors and just all of thought that goes into it. I really thought I would never find an Indian serial where I would be both emotionally, AND intellectually satisfied, but Gulaal was such an eye-opener for me. Shows that some truly good material can be found amongst all. This clip itself show such emotional turmoil and passion, so much left unsaid -- nay, what can't be said -- such desperation, especially, on Kesar's part and behalf (Neil is just fantastic, even my Mum noticed!); what to say, it literally makes me and my heart ache.
