Her end goal is to keep Gaurav's sexuality under wraps, which is never going to make him happy, nor is it a justification. I hope her own daughter goes through the same thing then she would know the pain that Vidya is going through.
Like she's closed her eyes to her husband's bad character, she thought an innocent, less-educated girl from a poor village family, would also keep quiet about her husband. That was the only reason she brought Vidya in as her DIL. That's downright mean and Machiavellian. Devyani might not be able to help Gaurav, and might not be responsible for Priya's tragedy, nor can she be held responsible for Uttara's choices, but she is entirely at fault and 100% to blame for ruining Vidya's life.
I definitely agree with you regarding the fact that she is 100% percent to blame for Vidya's current state, and I highly doubt anyone can even seriously argue that. But, I definitely don't think that her end goal is to keep his sexuality under wraps, I think it's to protect her son. And her means of doing that would be by keeping his sexuality a secret from his father and everyone else.
Which I agree is not the best situation for any of them because of what it has led to. However, the fact that she wants to protect her son, and keep him from undergoing any more misery at the hands of his father, I definitely do respect that and think that that's what her ultimately goal is. She's been really protective of Gaurav so far just to keep him from suffering his father's wrath, and I sympathize. What a horrible situation she must be in.
But what she did to Vidya is also defintiely unforgivable in my opinion just because, like you said, she didn't think about Vidya at all. She continued to live in her own little illusion that as soon as Vidya came into his life, Gaurav would change, which obviously was not really going to happen. And so yes, she's definitely to blame for how she tried to protect her son. That's for sure.
