Ch37 – Pinky's Insistence

A week later

Maan was going home after a long day at hospital. He had come after a week and was tired after performing all the pending and urgent surgeries. As he walked towards his car Adi stopped him.

Adi – "Maan ruk, chal ghar chal"

Maan – "Nahin yaar bahut thak gaya hoon...aaj nahin"

Adi – "To maine kaun se patthar tudwane hai tujhse...Pinky has insisted...agar tujhe liye bina jaoonga to woh mujhe ghar se nikal degi...daya kar mujhpe and come for cofee...ab chal"

Maan was not very interested but Adi pretty much dragged him.

Pinky met them at the door. As Maan entered, she gave him a set of keys. Maan looked quizzically at her.

Pinky - "Ghar ki chaabi….incase you need to go somewhere. I have the second set". Saying this she happily went out with Adi closing the door behind.

Maan was amazed and furious - "What!!! She called me home and they both just left leaving me here…what the hell is going on?"

Suddenly he heard tinkling sound of bangles and anklets. He moved towards the lounge. His eyes met a sight of Geet clad in a white salwar suit sitting on the sofa. Her hands were clad with white glass bangles and she was flipping thru some magazine. Her hands were shaking as she looked up. She got up as soon as her eyes met Maan's.

"Woh….woh"

"Geet" Maan said surprisingly. "Sab thik hai na"

"Haan…I guess…woh woh"

"Kya woh …aage bhi kuch bolo"

"Woh mujhe aapse kuch baat karni thi" Geet said hesitantly

"Kya…Geet tum itna nervous kyon ho rahi ho" Maan was thinking of different possibilities in his head. "Yeh thik to hai…kahin…nahin nahin Maan don't assume anything…let her complete"

Geet was feeling very shy. God how do I say it. She closed her eyes in embarrassment and Maan's face after he came from his accident last week swam in front of her eyes. Her eyes burned with tears.

She opened and took a long breath and said very quickly "I don't know how you will feel after hearing this but I need to tell you something very important. Last week has taught me once again that life is too short and what makes it beautiful is when we share our feelings with people who matter to us. But before I say this I want to tell you that your friendship matters a lot to me and I think we are two mature people who can talk about this without spoiling our friendship. And…"

Geet stopped and heisted. She was looking down and her courage was faltering.

Maan moved ahead and put a finger under her chin. He forced her to look into his eyes "And?"

"I love you" Geet whispered so softly that if Maan was not hearing with rapt attention he would have missed it.

"I love you lots" She repeated not getting any response from Maan

"I understand if you don't feel the same….We can still be friends right" She started blabbering again.

Maan put his finger on her lips stopping the words she was about to utter. He cupped her face and said looking into her eyes – "No, we are not friends anymore." Her eyes widen. Saying this he bent down his head capturing those rosy lips which he had been dying to taste for what seem like an eternity. The kiss was gentle holding new promises and showering his love. He straightened little bit - "No, we are much more than friends now".

Geet's eyes filled up. He wiped her tears with his thumbs and cupped her face again. He kissed her forehead – "I love you too".He kissed her eyes and said – "I love you utterly". He kissed her cheeks – "I love you madly". He showered her jaw line with feather light kisses saying each word after every kiss - "I love you irrevocably."

Geet saw his eyes reflecting pure love for her. She could not take the intensity of those chocolate brown eyes. She hugged him hiding her face in his chest. He hugged her back pulling her even closer. They both didn't know how long they stayed like that in arms just feeling each other.

Geet pulled herself even closer to him when he felt something poking in his chest. He came out of the hug slowly and moved his hand inside his jacket pocket and took out a beautifully wrapped box. Maan opened the box and took out the bracelet he has got it made for her. He slipped on the cool metal on her warm wrist and clasped it. She caressed the wording on the bracelet with her finger gently. "It's beautiful". Maan was happy looking at the love shining thru her eyes. She smiled admiring the beautiful bracelet. Maan saw the change in emotions when she frowned a little.

Maan -"Kya hua Jaan…acha nahin laga"

Geet – "Bahut sundar hai Maan lekin you didn't know about our meeting then why do you have this in your pocket."

Maan grinned – "I was going to propose you on my birthday. That is why I didn't want any party and wanted to come early from Ram Tekri."

He held her from her back nuzzling his chin on her shoulder. "I had planned a surprise which now I will have to plan again some other day."

Geet turned her face to look at him "Sachi"

Maan puckered his lips "Muchi"

Geet felt shy by his gesture but couldn't help herself from giving a quick peck on those puckered lips

Maan looked at her in awe. They had bottled their feelings for so long and suddenly this ability to express their love was a great feeling.
