The Earnest Confession

hey guys 😊

today i realised why this show is so damn amazing..it was a slow realisation, but in the end i got it.

the subtlety and pureness of this show, is what makes it so extraordinary.

in other indian tv serials, during a scene in which a lover confesses his/her love, is done with dramatic and loud background music, unrealistic atmosphere and with over-the-top expressions or voice modulation.

however, when kesar finally confessed his love to gulaal, it was simply beautiful. it was lacking all the distractions - the dramatic background music, the overly done atmosphere, or anything else which would distract us viewers from the beauty of the scene. the whole scene depended solely on the actors in the scene and their skill. needless to say, neil bhatt and mansi parekh were more than perfection in this scene..they were just so pure!

unlike other shows, when the confession took place, it was real. it was so real that it felt like it could happen to any one of us. the reactions of both kesar and gulaal were obvious, yet so intriguing. the softness, purity and subtlety with which kesar confessed his feeling was heart-rendering. it was authentic and passionate and gentle at the same time. it felt so natural..it was almost as if kesar himself did not know what he was saying..

gulaal, on the other hand, was shocked. somewhere she knew this all along, but she was not ready to hear it yet. at the beginning of the scene, she was demanding kesar for the truth, but finally when she heard it, she realised she didnt want the truth. it was unexpected for her; she did not know how to react, so she did what she does best - she slapped kesar. again and again and again..untill she realised that slapping him was not going to make the truth go away. mansi parekh was exceptional in that scene. the way gulaal ran away was such an amazing contrast to when she entered.

this is maybe why simplicity and subtlety cannot be competed with; just like i think gulaal cannot be competed with either. yes it may have some flaws, but what doesnt?

i know most of you viewing this, would probably not be reading this, but thanks for reading if you are 😊

I agree. It was the most beautiful confession I have ever seen. No over the top elements clouding the moment. Gulaal, the show is unique in the sense there is consistency in each and everything. I just love this show. Each episode is a revelation. Neil and Mansi are doing an excellent job as kesar and gulaal. I can watch the confession scene countless time.

yes. it was so heartfelt and simple and pure, and that was exactly what kes-gul's love is going to be. & again i agree..its such a consistent show, with every storyline explained and almost no bloopers.. beautiful scene, beautiful story!

Nicely written :-)

I agree with you...it was a very earnest and natural confession...especially for the fact that Kesar didn't plan it...He himself realized just yesterday but he wasn't exactly running after Gulaal to tell her either...but she pulled it out of him unintentionally...She wasn't ready to hear it but she prodded Kesar just enough so that he was like, "You REALLY want to know? Fine then"😆

What's interesting about this scene is the calmness in Kesar's tone as he first tells her...as if he's finally found the answer that's calmed the storm of questions inside him since many days...the way he tells her..."ab samjha hoon"...and then later as he says, "Haan Gulaal, yeh pyar hi hai"...there's a happiness in his tone as well even as he gets progressively more emotional as he expresses his feelings to her clearly at last. Gulaal obviously is zapped and in shock as he tells her...

And then came the slaps...Gulaal's anguish...and the stark contrast of Kesar not saying a word but just looking back at her so innocently as those slaps rain down on him...as if he understood what she didn't say...as if he understood her anguish, her need to vent...he stood there mutely and let her do whatever she wanted...there wasn't ever regret in his eyes, nor hurt really for why she was doing this...there was just a kind of finality and acceptance...acceptance of his own feelings and acceptance of her anguish in response as well.

The fact that this entire bit played out silently is what leaves that sense of intrigue as to how K and G will face each other next...at this point, Gulaal didn't say anything...but what will she say to him after this? It's all quite unpredictable and interesting...lol

thank you 😊 ..you have written it quite beautifully yourself!

the calmness of the scene makes it intriguing. everything is so quietly and gently done, but it leaves a lasting impact on us viewers.. & im really excited to see both their reactions when they first meet..

I agree confession was very different...Totally spontaneous... like it solved all of Kesar's dilemmas. But the best part for me was the background music...It was so calm,so soothing and that melodious flute tune...Otherwise toh in confessions bg music becomes so loud that it drowns the dialoguesand essence of scene...😆
