i remember in school being taught that individual rights and freedoms can be taken away if the government feels it is harming them

anyway this isntt the first time people's rights are taken away

Of course it isnt the first time, it also wont be the first time there will be a huge about of backlash from the public and especially the youth. Our government should learn to protect our country in better ways, not by taking away normal rights. Also my real concern is, you really think this law is going to stop people from drinking? And then the police will be running behind all this older people who arn't 26 yet who are drinking fining and arresting them when they should be running behind actual criminals. This is my main concern.

This law portrays drinking before 25 as a 'crime'. Which seems fundamentally skewed in logic.

America banned alcohol in the 1920s, and guess what happened?, crime increased, the whole experiment was a disaster. Most people drink alcohol, if you ban something that the average person does, it's gonna create more problems. Not everyone gets drunk and starts starts joy riding or beats their wives... you may as well ban knives, because some people use them to murder people.

Banning is not a solution at all, and increasing the drinking age to 25 is plain stupid, instead they should focus on enforcing laws.

^ thank you. -_-' this is what ive been trying to say. theres a reason why people cant vote before 18 or marry before 21. Their pretty young, it takes a while to key into politics or fully comprehend the marriage contract and all the things that come with it. Like so, the affect of alcohol on someone whosse 15 and someone whose 20 will be different. But the same cannot be said for a 21 year old and a 25 year old. in my eyes, past 20 you're an adult, what you do in your spare time should not be the governments concern unless its seriouslness harming people.
