@Trifolia and KasturiL,
I have had my own apprehension about Gulaal falling in love with Kesar. For any woman who has seen the child Kesar for however short period of time, it would be near impossible.
I also feel for Gulaal who has been deprived of her love because of Dushyant's wrong deed. I would want her to move on and especially with Kesar who has been in love with her ever since he knows her. I also believe there was no physical aspect for Kesar's love for Gulaal. For him she has been the perfect woman.
Now that he has grown up, he has to start feeling for her in a different way having understood her what a person she actually is. Kesar cannot take this love to the next level just out of habit or an extension of the emotional dependability he once shared with her as a child. In that case it would be a good watch. But it would be like expecting too much from the writers and show organisers. Having been subject to one show's ruin in the past I have learnt it the hard way that it is stupidity to expect any sort of logic in a show.
I have written my thoughts on Gulaal in a separate threads
I have written my thoughts about Kesar in another thread

I would request to read these please.
For everyone's benefit, I would like to edit my first line to:
For a woman like Gulaal who is so tied to traditions (who has not had a chance to be more openminded having known the outer world other than Talsagra), who has seen the child Kesar for however short period of time, it would be near impossible.
I mean it is just a wonder on my part if she ever would. Not that it is wrong, not that I deny the fact that human emotions are complex. My concern is about the kind of typical traditional woman like Gulaal who still keeps talking to Vasant's photo and finds her existence through that. I welcome such reciprocation from her towards Kesar.

@mey simi...
I have responded to praniti and KasturiL about some of the issues that all 3 of you have raised. One of your comments
"I have had my own apprehension about Gulaal falling in love with Kesar. For any woman who has seen the child Kesar for however short period of time, it would be near impossible."
This is what the book "Ek Chaddar Maili Si" points to. Ranno a widowed woman in rural Punjab after the latha jodna ceremony (equivalent to the Deeyarvattu) to the younger brother in law (who is closer in age to her children than her, but an adult) is in inner turmoil about the physical consummation of her marriage. The book is written in an extremely simple, no-nonsense style and is devoid of any flowery prose that tries to skirt around the issue - finally when Rano consumates the marriage it is on her terms - but it is based on both people expressing their carnal as well as emotional needs...but she chooses...and that for me was an important part of the story...love and accepting ownership of her second husband for her takes its own path...
