Gaurav's shocking truth revealed!

STAR Plus' late primetime show Maryaada' Lekin Kab Tak, has a shocker in store. Viewers have seen the indifferent attitude of Gaurav towards his wife Vidya, but though she thinks the reason for his lack of interest in her is his love for Aarti, in tonight's episode, it will be revealed that Gaurav is actually gay!!

A STAR Plus.in source elaborates, "Gaurav is frustrated in life because due to Vidya, his business is in ruins and his marriage never had a chance. His mother Devyani, too, is pressurizing him to accept Vidya as his wife. Devyani finds out that Vidya thinks Aarti is the love of Gaurav's life, and so she will ask Gaurav to end his 'real' relationship or she will kill herself. There will be a huge showdown between mother and son. After the argument, Gaurav will rush out of the house to meet his lover. He will meet his boyfriend Karan and tell him that this is the end of their relationship as he can't handle the pressure at home."

Gaurav aka Dakshjit is in a huge dilemma as he is torn between duty and love. He pours his heart out saying, "I married Vidya under pressure as my mother wanted me to have a 'normal' relationship. She could never accept that I was gay and thought marriage to a girl would cure me. Being gay is not a disease which can be cured, it's natural. People don't understand and think of gay people as lesser human beings or abnormal people. That is not true. After six months of marriage, I thought I would be able to handle Vidya and be just friends with her, but now as everything around me is crumbling, I feel I should have stood up for myself before and not ruined her life in the process. I feel guilty for marrying her and leaving her in a lurch, but I had to, as I love my mother a lot, and wanted to make her happy. She told me that if the fact that I am gay became known, the society would react and it would have repercussions on the family's name and status. Of course, she thought about my dad SSP Brahmanand first and how it would affect his reputation and status in society. But I truly love only her in my family and put up with her emotional blackmail. It has been really tough pretending to be someone I am not."

Dakshjit essays the first gay character on TV and doesn't understand the hullabaloo about playing a gay character. The actor, in fact, believes that it is this challenge that an actor seeks. He states, "I am really happy to play the first gay character onscreen, it is a bold concept to be portrayed on Indian television. It is extremely important to test yourself as an actor and Gaurav is one such character. I have no qualms playing a gay character and it makes me proud of the fact that I am playing the first of this kind on TV. Ever since the promos aired, I have been getting messages and calls from people, I hope people like the character and appreciate my work. It's always good to feel important as an actor by people."
