She is in her fantasy world thinking she will get Talli and Kesar married and it will be as easy as her saying it. But there are customs, and she got married to Kesar. The family lets her do whatever she wants supporting her fantasy world even more due to their blind trust in her intentions. Kesar is the odd one out with his anger and steadfastness, nobody understands him one bit and has any control over any of his actions. He is so unpredictable and completely different from what Gulaal expected him to be.

Gulaal has remained in denial all these years and will never ever think of Kesar as her husband till she is hit over the head with it repeatedly to take some stand. She wants to get Talli and Kesar married but is not even taking a stand there, continuing to perform rituals as Kesar's legal wife. Jamna is interfering to force the family and Gulaal to take some stand. I think this is necessary especially to bring Gulaal out of her fantasy world and get a reality check so she can face the consequences of her deeyarvattu.

I know i see what you mean, Gulaal really does need to come out of her fantasy world, and i think she will gradually if people give her some time and space to think things through, i mean even though she seems to be expecting a bit too much from kesar (him getting married to talli), that doesn't mean everyone can get at her at one go, she needs time to think she is human at the end of the day, she's not hulk!
-p.s. i don't mean to hurt anyones feeling through this post, i wrote with good intention😊

I think that gulaal has a right to remain in denial, i mean when she decided to get married to kesar- she only did it in the purpose of protecting him from the rest of the family who were out to get him then if you remember!! i think she even told everyone about that as well and she cleared things out their and then, but now we all seem to agree tht gulaal needs to realise her duty and accept him as her husband seeing as he is willing to accept her- but in a way its not compulory fir gulaal to accept this marriage-take it seriously, and carry out that fast tommorow, because she only got married to kesar in the intention of protecting him- not so she could be his wife 10 years into the future!!

-p.s. dont intend to hurt anyones feelings!! :)

Agreed that Gulaal doesn't have to be Kesar's wife since she married him to protect him. On one hand Gulaal encourages Talli to love Kesar, on the other hand she continues to perform wifely duties (prayers in front of the priest), she needs to take a stand either way instead of keeping Kesar and Talli hanging. She thought Kesar would do whatever she says, but Kesar is completely different from what she thought. It is also not that easy to break a marriage that has been performed per customs - Paan Baa and Mota Bha were also married by deeyarvattu, if it were that easy to break people would not respect that ritual anymore. Gulaal fails to understand that.

If Gulaal had to think in peace, she would have long back. She continues to remain in denial and will continue to do so till she is hit on the head with it to open her mind a little to the consequence of her actions. I mentioned in another post that she has not even told Mota Bha the reason for her deeyarvattu. She should have at least told him so he could have dissolved the marriage, instead she waited for 10 years and now she wants to marry Talli and Kesar but is not taking any stand there as well. And what about Kesar's life and feelings? Does he even want to marry Talli?

Now to Gulaal. How will she live if Talli and Kesar get married? Will it not be awkward for her in the same house? When Mota Bha and Paan Baa die, what will happen to her? Who will take care of her? Gulaal did what she had to do back then, but she has not taken anyone else into her confidence, she wants to carry the entire burden by herself, so consequences are going to fall on her alone. In her fantasy world she has imagined that Talli and Kesar will fall in love, with the snap of her fingers she will cancel her marriage and get the two married, and everything will be happy ever after. Her promise to Vasant was to prevent the family from breaking and make the village progress, but the promise will never come to an end or get fulfilled completely because life always has problems and she will constantly have to strive to make things perfect/better. Gulaal thinks there will be a dead end where all her duties and promises to Vasant will be fulfilled and then she can live in peace, but life doesn't work that way. I find Gulaal very idealistic and impractical. I still don't get why she needed to do deeyarvattu, she could have refused to leave instead of marrying Kesar, or married Dushyant and refused to give herself to him. I guess I don't understand why she had to go through with this ceremony.
