Please give the story so far

I requested for a quick short update on the story so far. No one responded. This is a repeat request for the same. Can some one give a quick recap of the story so far/

The story is about IM Virani (IMV) a self-made businessman from a humble background who makes it big and becomes d 4th richest tycoon in India. He always felt humiliated by his initial struggle. His older son Vaibhav is like him, though more considerate. When they acquire sum land for their very ambitious project, Vaibhav comes in touch with Sabina.

She's a film star who wants to protect d people of d basti, whose land have been acquired by the Viranis. Initially she takes Vaibhav for a ruthless businessman who would do anything to get the land and Vaibhav thinks her to be a publicity hungry film star using social service as a means to gain publicity. This brings them in direct conflict and soon Vaibhav realises that Sabina is truly concerned for the people and Sabina too realises that Vaibhav too doesn't want to usurp the poor people's land but is offering them more than fair compensation. This makes them come closer.

The same land leads to the meeting of IMV with Devki Shah who's an MBA from London and a big fan of IMV and his business strategies. As they r bidding for the same land IMV sees her as a threat and although IMV acquires d land Devki tells him that he had paid much more than the value of the land. This is heard by a journalist (who has sum enemity with IMV) and the next day it becomes the headlines that a 23 year old taught business to IMV. This becomes too much for IMV's ego and he silently declares war on Devki.

Unknowingly Devki, who is shown as an astute businesswoman at the same time extremely compassionate, has formed bonds with Nirali (IMV's daughter), Charulata (IMV'S wife) and IMV's parents who r all taken in by Devki and her caring nature.

IMV and Vaibhav decide to take on Devki and this leads to Vaibhav and Praveen (IMV'S childhood friend) spying on and taking photographs of Devki who is seen going with a much older man into a hotel room. On seeing d photographs IMV is ecstatic as d elderly man in the photograph is none other than Bhavanji Bha (BB) a rich businessman and his old enemy. In fact IMV considers him as his enemy as in flashback it is shown that BB had slapped him, but BB is in fact is a very good friend of IMV's father and d person responsible for giving IMV his first break in Mumbai.

IMV has fixed d marriage of Vaibhav with d daughter of a politician and has held a huge party for their engagement supposedly, although his actual intentions r to expose BB and Devki and humiliate them in front of all the bigwigs and the media. During the engagement party it is discovered that the girl with whom Vaibhav was supposed to get engaged had eloped with someone else. Neither IMV nor Vaibhav r much concerned, in fact they see it as an opportunity to bring the politician under their obligation. In the party Sabina too comes as Vaibhav has invited her as a friend, but IMV isn't too happy when he sees that. Devki too has been invited as Nirali's friend and BB was invited by IMV supposedly with the intention of burying the hatchet and starting afresh. While d party was going on, Dalichand, a drunkard and an enemy of BB enters the party and starts accusing BB of having relationships with much younger girls and then he sees Devki and points out to her saying that she is d girl having illicit relationship withBB nd he has CD to prove it. (Dalichand has been previously coached and paid by IMV and his man to do this).The CD is played and on a large screen there is d slideshow of d photographs of Devki and BB. All d members of the Virani family r shocked to see d photographs and after the damage is done, IMV asks for the stopping of the CD. He is feeling very smug and asks BB if he's having affair with Devki. All turn to Devki on hearing her admitting to it. Then she says that their affair has been going on for 20 years and started with diapers and a feeding bottle(very nyc scene...watch it!) and reveals that BB is her nana and that she didn't want people to know that as she wanted to establish herself without her nana's support. But now she has had enough. BB then tells that it's a sad thing that an own father can accuse his daughter of such a thing, which leaves everyone further shocked and Devki is devastated to learn that Dalichand is her father and leaves d party.

IMV isn't one to ponder on his plan having backfired and quickly goes to BB asking for Devki's hand in marriage for Vaibhav. He sees this as another opportunity to get even with Devki and BB. When Vaibhav comes to know this he isn't happy as he has realised that he loves Sabina. He goes and proposes to Sabinaa nd tells IMV that he cannot marry Devki as he luvs Sabina. IMV very smartly pacifies him saying dat he would call off d proposal, but in fact has the announcement of Devki's and Vaibhav's engagement published in d next day's newspaper. This makes Viabhav angry and he delays his going out of town (again manipulated by IMV) for a couple of hours in order to meet Sabina. On reaching Sabina he sees that Sabina has already seen d news of his engagement and tells her that he would never marry Devki as he loves her and again states his intentions to marry her telling her that he would want to hear a yes from her on his return. (Again a very good scene). As he leaves her, Devki comes to meet her. Devki has been asked by IMV to meet Sabina. The excuse he gave her was that Sabina was emotionally playing on Vaibhav to get more compensation for d basti people. Devki enters Sabina's vanity van and Sabina addresses her by her name Devki Shah to which she says that it'll soon be Virani. Sabina invites her to take a seat and Devki tells her that now she was in charge of d project and unlike Vaibhav wouldn't take decisions emotionally. Sabina tells her that if anyone else would have been in Devki's place, she would have been angry, but she empathized with her as she too knew how it felt to be deprived of a father's love and not having a mother. (Another beautiful scene). She says that the 2 of them had "dard ka rishta" and on that basis she promises that she wouldn't try to get anything from Vaibhav. Devki thanks her and is about to leave when Sabina stops her saying that now that she's her friend she (Sabina) wants to give her some gift. She then takes a box containing a bracelet and gives it to Devki telling her to show her this if she ever forgets her promise.

IMV in d meantime decides to have d engagement d moment Vaibhav returns and realises that Vaibhav will not be easily discouraged, so he calls Sabina 2 his office. He tells her that he would disinherit Vaibhav if he married her. Sabina isn't impressed and is all set 2 leave when IMV drops d bombshell, by showing Sabina a photograph nd sum medical reports. On seeing these Sabina breaks down and looks defeated. When Vaibhav returns, he comes to know about Sabina's visit and immediately goes to meet her. Initially Sabina is reluctant to meet him but as he's insistent, she complies. She categorically tells him that she doesn't love him and what he thought to be love was just her way to make him care for the poor people and get d maximum compensation for them. (Again a very good scene). Vaibhav is devastateda nd returns to get engaged to Devki. He's unable to stop loving Sabina and when IMV is all set to fix d date for their wedding he tells Devki that although he's marrying her he loves someone else, but as that person doesn't love him, he's marrying Devki. Devki tells him that if that is d case den she can't marry him and tells him to inform his family. She's totally heart-broken!

Dat's d story so far.

There r of course d stories of Siddarth nd Manohar nd others too...but this is d main story-line.

Siddharth is d younger son of IMV, though he married first as Vaibhav was pursuing further studies. He has had an arranged marriage with Rajvi, who's shown to be fond of shopping and good at heart. They have a comfortable marriage but d closeness between them is missing. They also have a 6-7 year old son. Siddharth is a reluctant businessman and isn't as business savvy as Vaibhav which makes him an easy target for IMV's ridicule. He's very sensitive and during holi and Uttaran festivals they show him not participating in the festivities. Whenever there is mention of colours he gets unnecessarily agitated which confuses his wife. One day she discovers a key and shows it to Sid but he nonchalantly takes it and says it isn't an important key. Later Rajvi finds out that Sid had carefully put away the key, which makes her suspicious and she sneaks away the key and tries to find out which lock it fits into. Sid catches her red handed and is furious with her and threatens to end the marriage. Finally she asks Charulata her mother-in-law about the mystery and discovers that Sid is a very good painter, but it seems IMV belittled his talent and had categorically said that if did not give up painting and take part in the family business then he would have to leave his father's house. Ultimately Sid buried all traces of his talent and took to business, though he was never happy.

Rajvi takes out all the locked paintings and arranges them in their room, hoping to encourage her husband to take up painting again. But Sid is angry with her for doing this and since then there's a strain in their relationship'though since then the story has never again focused on Sid and Rajvi'but it is very interesting and it would be nice if the creatives furthered this story as well.

Manohar (or is it Manhar? Not sure) is the younger brother of IMV and totally opposite him. He didn't join IMV in his business and is a humble being working in a government office. Obviously IMV disapproves of him and his values. He along with his wife and 2 daughters stay with IMV in his house. His 1 daughter had got a teaching job in a government school. When IMV comes to know go this he forbids her to take up that post and instead decides to build a prestigious school and the entire school would be under her. (BTW IMV treats both his brother's daughters just like his own daughter). But she wants to teach poor students and this makes IV furious and he says that if people staying at his house don't live life the way he wants then they should leave his house. Manohar decides to support his daughter and he and his family leave IMV's house. Baa (their mother) too decides to go with her younger son. BB happens to see them and offers an old house of his to them which they accept with gratitude and which makes IMV all the more angry for them having taken refuge in the house of his enemy!

Anyways Manohar's younger daughter hates living in their present house and resents having to give up all the luxury for moral values and decides to go back and live with her kaka, IMV. This makes IMV happy as he sees this as a fitting reply to what his brother had done.

IMV's father is a retired village school master with high ideals and is cynical where IMV is concerned. IMV's mother is shown as a strong woman, who knows IMV inside out. She loves him a lot but also aware of his unscrupulous ways and isn't afraid to take him to task.

So that's the story so far . I think that about covers all the characters in the serial and their relationship with each other and especially IMV.
