L'Oreal clears air on Ash-replacement

Mumbai, Jan 8 (IBNS) Cosmetic major L'Oreal Paris on Saturday said reports on actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan being replaced as the face of L'Oreal Paris due to her not being a part of their New Year commercial, are 'untrue'.

"We are shocked and surprised to read in some sections of the media/press about Ms. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan being replaced as the face of L'Oral Paris," said an official statement on Saturday.

"L'Oreal Paris strongly reiterates that this is absolutely untrue and that Ms. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan continues to be our valued spokesperson, as she has since 2000. While she remains an integral part of the L'Oreal Paris world wide Dream Team, she was unfortunately unavailable for our New Year commercial shoot due to prior commitments."

"She is one of the most iconic women of our times and is certainly the face of L'Oreal Paris internationally and in India for a range of products which include campaigns for Total Repair 5, Excellence Crme, Color Riche, Hydrafresh," read the statement.

According to reports, Ash was replaced by 'Slumdog Millionaire' actor Freida Pinto after the former Miss World refused to be a part of L'Oreal's 'Happy New Year 2011' campaign.

She is there brand ambassador only for south asia.I haven't seen any of her l'oreal adverts in american tv channels for over 2 yrs now.

I called on the other thread that she was busy with award shows and rehearsals... see! Ppl are so ready for her to fail!!!

I know some section of the media are always after Aishwarya endorsements. Aishwarya and L'oreal should sue the reporter for writing false news! 😃

Though i am not a fan of hers, loreal couldn't pick up a better brand ambassador than ash ......

Simply from a marketing perspective pinto does not have the indian appeal to pull it off ...... in india she is known only to those who keep up with the fashion blogs ..... especially in smaller towns or even home makers in metros would be hard pressed to recognise her face let alone rush to buy what she is selling ........... ash has the all india visibility thats really hard to match

Aish should seriously sue the Indian press, then they'll get what's due to them😉

lol sorry guys it's not time for aish to be replaced by anyone. miss rai is still signed to loreal..hehehe she sued elle magazine for what reason coco?
