INDIAN EXPRESS MON NOV 22 (hrishita shetty reports)Ronit Roy says his new weekly show opened to mixed reactions and he is not entirely satisfied with the response.
Hrishita shetty tries to find out what makes the man tick and more in this exclusive chat at balajistudios
Q.Whats the reaction to your new show?
A.Reactions are mixed. I'm not too happy with the response but its early days yet and production values need obvious improvement.
Q.There are rumours that your current daily soap bandini might go off air ?
A.I dont understand why this rumour crops up every six months. As I've said before this is too ridiculous a story to be even called a news
Q.What if any are the movie projects you are taking on?
A. Talks are on for a couple of foreign films but it will not be ethical on my part to discuss these right now as nothing is finalised
Q.You have had a long association with balaji telefilms ...
A.Yes its been a long and productive ten years balaji never tried to hamper my groW*H as an actor I've been always free to experiment and enjoy the best of all worlds film tv and reality dance shows as well as hosting. I have to add here that I owe whatever I have to tv
Q.So whats it like doing a court room drama you've never been seen in a weekly series so far?
A. I am enjoying it as its something different.
Q. You are seen as an egoistical diamond merchant in bandini whats it been like portraying DM?
A. I am very well versed in gujarati language having spent my formative years in Ahmedabad. Since this serial has a gujarat backdrop I found it very easy to slip into the shoes of this character. I must say it has been extremely well received.
Q. Tell us something about your bandini co star Aasiya Kazi?
A. She has improved a lot and is doing extremely well for herself
Q. So whats next for Ronit Roy?
A. Good demanding and challenging roles in both films and tv is what I would like as I like to straddle both worlds with ease and hopefully success.
