Watched the past three episodes just now, so will post my thoughts here...my favourite scenes of the week:
1. Dutta seeing that fair Nakku and his Nakku are one and the same when both of them are standing in front of the portrait. His realization, denial, the way Dutta tries to check out of the situation mentally and physically because he wants to block it out...it couldn't have been portrayed more brilliantly.
2. Nakku-Babi scene...whowouldathunk? 😆 Any disconnect I was feeling with Nakku because of what she did, right or wrong, vanished because of the display of determination, strength and wisdom she put up. More than anything, as I was watching this scene, all I could think of was what an amazing daughter she is! Anyone in her situation would try to find a scapegoat to blame the delay of the truth on, there was even a self-admitted one, her own mother, but she doesn't use it to bail herself out and play victim. Yes, she made a mistake, but the assertive way in which she is acting to rectify it...who wouldn't root for her or be convinced enough to forget the magnitude of her mistake? Major brownie points for Nakku and MV this week.
3. The Saanwarey song sequence --- First off, song choice...*bows down to the LTL team* While sober, Dutta was blinded by repulsion and the pain of being victimized...but under the influence, the way he mourned for koel Nakku, it was so beautiful...and unanticipated. Such a natural reaction though...that when his sense of shock and outrage is numbed by alcohol, the recognition that his Nakku is missing, is lost, comes home and plays so on his mind. I loved how Nakku smoothed her hand down his forehead, a sincere gesture of the love and care she feels for him...even the way she looked at him when Dutta lit the lighter in her face, there was longing in her eyes...to protect him, feel his acceptance again that can only come with the soot on her face....'Dhoonde meri preet re...' Wow...and Dutta is so child-like in his need...when he reached out for her hand to hold it, put it on his shoulder for reassurance and fell asleep...this whole sequence was so heart-softening and shiver-inducing at the same time.
4. Dutta wakes up and Nakku comes to his room..."Daat deni padegi teri himmat ki,"...even Dutta can't deny it 😆 "Tera bhanda phoot chuka hai, Nakusha!" 🤣 I was shocked at him using those words, so much like a child indeed 😆 When he told her to stop playing with words...the reactions in this scene were so PERFECT...because the way Nakku talks, it's inevitable that anyone will get swayed under her honeyed determination and Dutta doesn't want to risk that. But the best was how Nakku sort of lost it (but still had so much control!) and decided to give him a reality check: "Aapke ghusse ne aapki nazrein badal di hain, par mein waisi hi hoon." 👏 And what Dutta says about Nakku's zidd then...suffice to say, this scene is the haven of dialogue gem.
MV looks so dainty in the new look they've given her. Time for Dutta to get out of that sherwani and put on the old kurtas! Oh, let it be so 😆
