Goodbye || A One Scene Shot ||

Ridhimaa is going, leaving Armaan forever. A very subdued Armaan is sitting next to her, watching her pack. The two are not speaking to each other, at least not more than necessary.

Armaan: (quite abruptly) Ridhimaa… ek baat kahun?

Ridhimaa does not look up.

Ridhimaa: Hmm…?

Armaan: Tum... mujhe...

He seemed hesitant. Ridhimaa looked at him directly.

Armaan: Wo… I…

Armaan took a deep breath and closed his eyes.

Armaan: (opening his eyes, words falling out before he could stop them) I love you Ridhimaa!

Ridhimaa froze. Armaan saw her looking stunned and realised that he should not have said it at all.

Armaan: (getting up) Mujhe jaana hai… main baad me aaunga… bye

Ridhimaa held Armaan's hand. Armaan had been dreading this. Ridhimaa made him sit back on the bed before her. Armaan shook his face. Ridhimaa knew she had to talk the matter out.

Ridhimaa: (gently) Armaan…

Armaan did not look up.

Ridhimaa: Armaan?

Armaan: (in a constricted voice) Hmm…?

Ridhimaa: Look at me Armaan…

Armaan still did not look at her.

Armaan: I'm fine… OK?

Ridhimaa: (wiping Armaan's tears with her fingertips) To fir ye kya hai?

Armaan opened his eyes and looked at Ridhimaa for a long time. Each second that passed, was taking Armaan's every bit of energy to stay composed. But he knew he would have to yield. Both Ridhimaa and Armaan were looking at each other.

Ridhimaa: Armaan…

She could not go on, because the very next second, Armaan pulled Ridhimaa closer and kissed her, full on the lips. Ridhimaa, caught unawares, clutched Armaan's arms. Armaan was kissing her passionately, sharing their love, tears still running down his cheeks. He pulled away and gazed into Ridhimaa's eyes once again, lips moist and eyes burning with desire. Ridhimaa leaned in slowly and her lips reached Armaan's, kissing him softly and tenderly. When the two broke apart after a few seconds, Armaan engulfed Ridhimaa into a tight hug.

Armaan: (his voice cracking with tears) Mat jao Ridhimaa… please mat jao… don't go!

He occasionally surfaced, kissed Ridhimaa and then hugged her again, trying to keep her safe with him forever.

Ridhimaa: (hugging Armaan back) Please Armaan…

The two separated. Armaan was now cursing himself for breaking down before Ridhimaa. Ridhimaa was looking at Armaan cautiously, afraid of bursting into tears, any moment.

Ridhimaa: (taking Armaan's face in her hands) Mujhe bhool jaana Armaan… OK?

Armaan: (looking straight into Ridhimaa's eyes) Tum mujhe bhool jaogi Ridhimaa?

Ridhimaa looked at him for a moment and then nodded. Armaan kept quiet for a second and then removed Ridhimaa's hands from his face.

Armaan: Agar main tumse pyar nahi bhi karta na Ridhimaa… to bhi tumhe kabhi bhool nahi paata.

He turned his face away from Ridhimaa, trying to turn his heart and soul away from her too.

Armaan: You don't love me Ridhimaa!

A silence followed.

Ridhimaa: (suddenly) I don't love you…

Nothing but the tone of Ridhimaa's voice could make Armaan look back at her. Ridhimaa was sitting on the edge of her bed, looking at her knees, something watery in her voice. Armaan was startled.

Armaan: (crouching closer, tentatively) Ridhimaa?

Ridhimaa: (now looking at Armaan) I don't love you…

Armaan saw tears sparkling in Ridhimaa's eyes… his Ridhimaa's eyes! He came and sat next to her.

Ridhimaa: (two large teardrops rolling down her cheeks) I don't love you…

Armaan: (frantically) Ridhimaa! I'm sorry Ridhimaa…

Ridhimaa did not stop. The words she spoke were paining her to the core of her heart. Still, she was speaking resolutely, repeating the same words, looking as if she was either trying to etch them in her heart and mind forever or was trying to hurt herself as much as she could.

Armaan: (taking Ridhimaa's face in his hands) I'm sorry Ridhimaa…

Ridhimaa: (trying to shrug his hands off) I don't love you…

Armaan: (desperately, wanting her to stop) Ridhimaa! Please…

Ridhimaa: (locking her teary gaze with Armaan) I don't love you…

Armaan: (his face close to Ridhimaa's) Ridhimaa! Please! Ridhimaa…

Ridhimaa: (breathing on Armaan's face) I don't love you…

Armaan: (getting lost in Ridhimaa's beautiful eyes) Ridhimaa…

He placed his hands at Ridhimaa's waist, the right one at her back, pulling her in.

Ridhimaa: I don't love you…

Ridhimaa was jammed to Armaan's chest. Both could hear each other's heartbeats well.

Armaan: (looking at Ridhimaa) Ridhimaa!

His voice was no more than a soft whisper. His tears fell on her face and mingled with her own.

Ridhimaa: (wrapping hes arms around Armaan more tightly, their bodies pressing together, soul to soul) I don't love…

But she could not speak. Their faces were too close to each other; hearts beating madly, nothing else mattered. The two pairs of tender lips met, the kiss lasting forever, to remain etched in their memories for the days of eternity to come.

Ridhimaa: (voice trailing over the chasms of time, falling in love all over again) I love you Armaan… I love you!
