Here's a look at the hits of the year so far and the actors that have scored big at the box office
| Rajinikanth:Rs. 162 crore, Robot is the most expensive film ever made in India. The film has become a huge success due to the unbeatable star power of Rajinikanth. The sci-fi saga has grossed Rs. 117 crore in its first week itself and it still running in theatres across the globe. The release of the movie was an event in itself. |

| Salman Khan: The year began on a lacklustre note with Veer. He reinstated himself as a superstar with the smashing success of Dabangg. Once again, the formula film ran only because of Salman bhai's star appeal. The music of the film is a big hit. The Arbaaz Khan production was made on a budget of Rs. 42 crore and has grossed Rs. 140 crore in 28 days. The TV rights were sold for Rs. 10 crore. The DVD was released earlier this week and is flying off the shelves. A sequel is in the offering. |

| Ajay Devgn: He has had a surprisingly good year. It began with the success of Atithi Tum Kab Jaaoge. The film was made on a budget of Rs. 15 crore and grossed Rs. 29 crore. Then followed the stupendous success of Raajneeti. Moreover, he won critical acclaim for Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai. The film was a genuine hit and made Rs. 60 crore at the box office. Aakrosh has released today and Toonpur Ka Superhero will release in December. |
| Shah Rukh Khan: The superstar had a splendid beginning with the smashing success and acclaim of My Name is Khan. The movie was made on a budget of around Rs. 40 crore and has grossed a whopping Rs. 182 crore worldwide. The movie is the highest-grossing Bollywood film abroad. |
| Imran Khan: He was the surprise package of the year. Post the failure of Luck and Kidnap, he was written off. He bounced back with I Hate Luv Storys. The romantic-comedy was made on a budget of Rs. 17 crore and grossed more than Rs. 43 crore. Break Ke Baad, another romantic comedy with him and Deepika is yet to release. |

| Ranbir Kapoor: The youngest star has had quite a smashing year. He led Raajneeti's ensemble cast to victory at the box office. The film was made on a budget of Rs. 60 crore and has grossed Rs. 143 crore. His other big release this year, Anjaana-Anjaani, was made on a budget of Rs. 37 crore and has grossed Rs. 47 crore. The music rights were sold for Rs. 9 crore and the satellite rights were sold for Rs. 20 crore. |

| Arjun Rampal: The actor has played it smart by being part of multi-starrer movies. We have already discussed the thumping success of Raajneeti. Arjun also scored with Housefull, which grossed Rs. 71 crore at the box office (it was made on a budget of 45). We Are Family performed averagely at the box office. |
