It wasn't long back that Bitto, a show that dealt with the nuances on the prevailing caste system in rural India was launched.

Five months after it began, there seemed to be a problem with the storyline. Changes have been made in an attempt to woo audiences and Pallavi Gupta, who essayed the character of Bitto, has become a casualty in the process. Pallavi will no longer play the character. Hritu Dudlani will be taking her place. The storyline seems to be changing entirely. "After a lot of thinking it was decided that the serial will be given a twist. The village story has changed, the focus has shifted to the city. Pallavi is no more part of the serial and the lead character will be played by Hritu," says a source. Pallavi is naturally very upset with the sudden switch and she would have loved to be part of the new story, but then drastic decisions are taken in Tellyland in a bid to boost television rating points (TRPs). Hritu, on the other hand, is quite excited. "I have already started shooting from this week. Everything in the show has changed. Bitto will remain the same while the circumstances will be different now," she says.
