lol...Honestly, many of us go on dbs for tv shows and movies and have discussions on how hot the guy/gal luked in the movie, how hot their chemistry was, how he pinned her down to a wall to confess his love, how they kissed, how he carried her in his arms....but how often do we discuss other issues depicted in the movies like terrorism, politics, drugs and alcohol, ambitions, patriotism, crime etc??? These discussions I feel would be much more constructive right? Because we dont show enough enthusiasm for such films, even the filmmakers arent interested in making them. They concentrate more on safe bet romances.

I like romantic comedies, but depends if i would wanna watch them over & over again. And no not ONLY romantic movies for me...if tht was the case, Inception wouldn't have been my all-time-fav movie :P

That Edward guy was much better in Harry Potter GOF - atleast the character died at the end of the movie.😉
Ontopic I am not exactly sure why "love" is so revered in the Indian film industry. It has always been that way not just with the new generation. I guess its because our society was and to a certain extent still is so opposed to couples finding their own partners. Perhaps with this mindset changing we wil have a balence of different types of movies and people will give "Art" movies a chance. I already see it with movies like Peepli live.
Personally I loved the romantic movies as a teenager but later on it started getting boring I guess I am jaded😛

😆😆 poor edward...! 😛
actually, romance movies work almost everywhere else... even in hollywood... but the difference is that we have so many other genre of movies in hollywood, so romance is not the only thing... and as for bollywood, even the movies with different subjects are still promoted with the romance angle... that's true... but looking at just the forum state, most people are only interested in how hot etc. the stars were looking... and most movies cater to the younger audience... and perpahs, romance is something that is an interseting topic... it's new and it's exciting... but those who have already experience it, it's not that interesting for them anymore... so they prefer different movies...
don't think it has to be with you being 'jaded'... everyone goes through different stages in life... you have just passed one phase and now you are on another... 😉 nothing wrong with either stage... 😛
obviously, with age and maturity, people's choices and opinions change... 😃
p.s. as for Peepli live, would people have given it a chance if Aamir wasn't involved...? 😛 that should answer the question whether the 'art movies' are given a chance...! 😉

I hate rom coms, cant stand them. I love proper romantic movies not the ones regularly churned out by bollywood. I cant think of a good one being made in Bollywood for a really long time... cant think of any bollywood romantic movie which had the same affect on me as Sleepless in Seattle, Casablanca, One fine day.
For those who really appreciate subtle and traditional romantic movies please watch the tamil movie Vinaythandi Varuvaya released earlier this year... its one of the best indian romantic movies I have seen to date. Its so good that everything about the movie seems real, the chracters the setting etc.
Its one of those romantic movies about the 2 people in love, which is how romantic movies are supposed to be. I think its being remade in Hindi with Prateik.
