hey all
I read an article a couple of months ago on a website wherein, the interests of youngsters were discussed, and in particular, TV serials were targeted for showing the gen X as dimwitted people who have nothing to do apart from wear multicoloured outfits and romance in different backdrops...now i, being a part of today's generation know that that is not the truth..we have many more things going on in our lives like college/uni, careers, financial issues, relationship troubles (with family), friends etc...but still...movies targeted at youngsters are always suave rom-coms or romantic fluffy stuff...Very few movies like RDB, 3 idiots etc focus on the other aspects of a youngster's life...As adolecents and teenagers with raging hormones...of course we all love ourselves some guilty-fluffy pleasure, but is romance all that attracts us in a movie?
Dunt get me wrong now, nothing wrong with rom coms....but dont u think we as an audience tend to be a lot more biased towards them? Say we have a mediocre rom com and a mediocre thriller/drama or any other genre, i bet most of us would go for the rom com...even on IF...everytime there is new rom com/love story coming up...every alternate post is about the movie, its actors, their pairing, their chemistry etc etc...but say there is a movie like johnny gaddar or A wednesday or Once Upon a time in Mumbai, we dont seem to have pages and pages of discussion (or sometimes even frenzy fights) on the points and issues of that particular movie...Im not blaming anyone...just pondering over a point that at the end of the day, is romance all we want to watch in a movie...? a couple of drool worthy stars, some romantic scenes, nice music...bas...paisa vasool?
PS: Healthy discussion is encouraged and you are most welcome to disagree with anyones point of view, as long as there is proper justification.
