For Karan Torani, designing for the couple was about far more than creating wedding outfits. He described the experience as translating their relationship into fabric, colour and craft.

The designer revealed that spending time with Rashmika and Vijay during fittings gave him a glimpse into their genuine bond. Instead of grand drama, what stood out was their warmth, curiosity and gratitude toward the artisans involved in the process.

That sense of sincerity shaped the creative direction. Torani imagined the outfits as a celebration of two cultural landscapes meeting. Rashmika’s Mysore roots and Vijay’s Deccan heritage became the foundation of the design language.

The garments were therefore conceived as a dialogue between different traditions of India. Mythology, temple art, royal influences and modern silhouettes all blended into the final result. When the couple stood together in their Mehendi photos, the designer hoped people would see not just festive clothing but a visual representation of history, colour and devotion.

Rashmika Mandanna’s Radiant Bride Energy

For Rashmika’s look, Torani turned to a powerful symbol from Indian tradition, the arrival of Goddess Lakshmi. In many cultures, a bride entering her new home is compared to the goddess of prosperity and grace, and this idea became the emotional core of the outfit.

The designer drew inspiration from the visual richness of South Indian temple art and Tanjore paintings. These artworks often depict Lakshmi seated within ornate shrines, surrounded by jewel tones and gold detailing. That imagery shaped Rashmika’s Mehendi ensemble.

Her outfit featured a bejewelled corset blouse paired with a draped dhoti-style skirt, bringing together structure and fluidity. The colours leaned toward deep festive tones like burgundy, green and gold, giving the look a regal warmth.

One of the most striking elements was the odhna inspired by Lakshmi iconography. Rich artwork, temple motifs and intricate borders transformed the drape into something that resembled a moving canvas.

The craftsmanship extended to the embroidery as well. Detailed beadwork and traditional patterns gave the blouse an heirloom-like feel, while the saree-style drape carried ornate motifs including animals and sacred imagery often found in temple carvings.

Rashmika balanced the elaborate outfit with soft styling. Her hair was worn long with gentle waves and half tied at the back, decorated with delicate floral and bead accessories that flowed down the length of her hair. Her makeup stayed fresh and luminous, highlighting her natural glow.

She completed the look with layered pink-and-gold jewellery, including a statement necklace and matching earrings.

Vijay Deverakonda’s Modern Deccan Royalty

Torani explained that the inspiration came from the cultural history of Hyderabad and the Deccan region. Traditional garments like the veshti or lungi have long been worn by men there with ease and dignity, and the designer wanted to reinterpret that idea for a contemporary celebration.

Vijay’s outfit featured a draped veshti paired with a relaxed kurta and a heavily embroidered jacket. The silhouette allowed him to move freely through the festivities while still looking regal.

The jacket became the focal point of the ensemble. Its surface was covered in tiny embroidered panels filled with motifs like parrots, elephants and peacocks; animals often seen in Indian temple art and folklore. The details turned the jacket into a storytelling canvas.

A decorative kamarbandh added another layer of craftsmanship, reminding viewers that historically Indian menswear was never minimal. Instead, it embraced ornamentation, artistry and pride in handwork.

Vijay completed the look with a long pendant necklace featuring a striking stone centrepiece. His slightly tousled hair and signature moustache added a relaxed edge, giving the ensemble a balance of royal and effortless charm.
