Yet their bond is so much stronger than that....Geet's tears was a sign of the deepest angst in the darkest corner of her heart. She was hurt not only for Maan but because her own worries were taking form before her eyes. A love she has realised for her saviour yet she can never be his and why.
'I am not the one for someone like Maan Singh Khurrana' she repeatedly tells herself. I'm not worth him; a man so perfect who has done nothing but helped me, of course we have our ups and downs, but when I fell, even when my family snatched away their hands when I tried to reach out, he provided the light in the resultant darkness and even provided his own hand to help me back up.
Standing before him, completely overwhelmed she tenderly touches his shoulder, repeatedly telling herself, 'It's all your fault'.
Geet has had a fabulous journey from when she started back in Hoshiyarpur, of course with Maan beside her to guide the way the journey has been a rollercoaster ride of learning and understanding. It is only with Maan that she shares such a sensitive bond as to completely forget her 'strong' self in his presence, the Geet who came to Delhi to make something of herself. Her family background is so conservative, a place where women will always be inferior to men, a place where women are taught nothing but the same, that she has developed a similar attitude towards Maan. When something happens to him, she can only point the finger of blame to herself. She stares at Maan straight in the eye and questions him in her own frustration, 'why? why did you have to follow me here??'
And Maan can only return her gaze, asking her softly, 'I couldn't leave you here...all alone'.
Maan and Geet fight...alot. They become friends and shake hands one minute and the next they are bickering once again. They can't stand each other, yet they're always their to help the other when in trouble....Geet goes to Hoshiyarpur to confront Rasika Rathod eventhough she knows many potential disasters await her there, but she does it all for Maan. Maan, in turn, comes to her aid when she is surrounded by goons brandishing swords and he is all alone, but he tackles them one by one and defeats them. They do it for each other but they do it for themselves. They can't stand each other...true..yet they can't be without one another.
Geet and Maan have so many differences....but they share something which holds them together, the reason why they can't be without one another and that is their solitude. We have Geet an innocent 18 year old who was forced into an arranged marriage and then betrayed, devastatingly involved in an honour killing, her own brother thirsty for her blood...her parents helpless could only advise her to run away. All alone she ran through the forest trying in some way to save herself.
We have Maan, a misunderstood misfit, betrayed in love, hating women, his younger brother walking on his own path, married to the love of his life, his complete opposite. A bitter young man burning in his own self made isolation, no one to share with him, his world, his thoughts, his feelings. A workaholic he has built up his own empire, wanting to seclude himself further he drowns himself in the depths of his career and subsequent successes. He notices Geet during such a business prospect and despises her immediately. Then he witnesses her brother beating her and immediately a connection forms. Two lost souls together, both stubborn, both helpless as to not let the other know of their feelings, Maan doesn't express his feelings due to his first rejection...a reason why he won't push further until Geet extends her hand, and Geet unwilling to do the same, scared of the stigma her status of an unmarried single mother and how it will ruin Maan forever. She can't be with him and she can't leave him. Ashamed she speaks of her past and how it is a part of her, she will never be rid of it...Maan holds her, assuring her, till I'm here, I won't let your past come near you. To a girl, these words would mean the world, to Geet...they only put her in further dilema. She wants more than anything to be with Maan but she must push him away. She admits, I can't fight him anymore, I can't fight my destiny anymore...she rips her dupatta to cover the cut in his hand, and he grabs onto the material. He tells her not to worry...'main hoon tumhare saath'. A bond so painful yet so beautiful...
