In movies, there are reasons for that happening. Like in the Schwarzenegger movie Erasure, the evil company behind the murders was one called Cyrez. That name was changed from Cyrex, which was too close to Cyrix, at the time a microprocessor manufacturing company which complained, since they didn't want their brand name associated w/ villainy.
In this case, had they used Papa Johns for the pizza and the kid then fell sick, the real company would understandably have had a problem w/ that, since the serial would imply that having pizza bought from them would make kids sick. So I can understand why they'd do it. But for Nodak, there is no way Kodak's image (in a manner of speaking) would suffer if it's shown that videos can be easily edited - that's a plus, and today, a given. (Incidentally, for Apa Johns, I noticed it only after you had mentioned it, but this morning, while seeing Mohan's visit to the video store a second time, I noticed the Nodak, particularly since the N looked photoshopped over - it was a badly done job.
My solution - use completely unknown names of non existant companies that won't be confused w/ originals in the case of these pizzas, and in other cases, just go w/ the usual brand names. Incidentally, I do hope in-placement ads take over - the long breaks b/w intervals is far more irritating. Much rather watch Sakshi use the shampoo being advertized, or show Yuvi and Sandhya travelling in the car being advertized. Or if that's too cheap for them, have Aditya/Sakshi travelling in it. Maybe show Sakshi driving, to make it more appealing to women drivers.
